It is funny how we sometimes go against what we believe in. Most cultures in America frown upon prostitution, right? Some of even think less of others engaging in prostitution here in the United States. Is it wrong to be a professional if the product you are selling is your body? Many religions would frown upon the thought of it. But what if you had to? What if your family's next meal or your rent was counting on you selling your body? In the 2008 olympics, China beat out our girls. We have to give it to them. But they were also under age. And America was quick to jump on that little detail. However, we should have been proud of those girls for competing at that age. See, many Asian and Tibetan girls all over China are forced into prostitution at ages as young as 12 and 13, because their families are on the brink of starvation and that is the only way for most to get any kind of money. But Americans are able to turn their heads away from that fact and criticize their gymnasts for being too young and pay more attention to the fact that there are girls under the age of 16 competing and making good names for themselves. It is like saying that it is ok for girls to sell their not-yet-developed bodies, but they can't take an opportunity to get away from that option and do something much safer and more productive. We can't even begin to say that we understand where they are coming from, because most American prostitutes chose that as an occupation. I'm not downing America or saying we don't have cases like this, but we have to agree that there as twice as many cases of it in Asia. What would be the right thing to do, turn our heads away from the fact that they are too young, or the fact that girls are being forced into prostitution? Which would hurt more?

I don't entirely understand your comparison of young Olympians to child prostitutes. I agree they share in age group, but I don't really got what your trying to argue.
Are you simply implying that China is like a pimp, pumping out young athletes?
Are you saying that we should promote underage athletes so that they don't have to be prostitutes?
Or are just trying to bring awareness to child prostitution?
