Dream Deferred

What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
Like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

Langston Hughes

what does happen to a dream deferred? does the persons whose dream that got changed spend forever dwelling on it.
do they focus on why their dream got deferred or do the stand up and do something about it no matter what?

when i first heard this poem read in my 10th grade english class i grasped only a small meaning of the words
but as my life progressed and events happened and sights i've seen in just the few years that have passed since 1oth grade english class 2nd period.
i feel i need to hold tighter to my dreams. and re read these words and try discover and see the greater meaning? when my teacher first read it to us. she paused after the 'OR' in the last line. and put emphasize on the last 3 words and after hearing someone else read it with out the poetic rhythm or with out a passion for dreams.
and sometimes to this day i wonder was it her passion for dreaming and achieving your dream.
she was one of the first not blood related person to tell me never let your passion for life die nor your ability to dream big fade.

so trying to hold on to her words seems harder today them ever.

Good blog, I believe that dreams are not enough if they stay dreams. You need to visualize how to achieve your dreams. You need ways and means. Dreams provide the inspiration, visions provide the foresight and ideas/plans make things happen. Time is the currency of life and how we use it determines our future!

It can be hard to hold on to dreams, but you have to keep dreaming! Dreams encourge you to do greater things in life. I believe in never giving up on a dream, if you fail to accomplise a dream keep trying, and trying. Your dreams may change with time, but sometimes that is a good thing. Good blog.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I am voting for Lewis Black.
