Groping after ethnic groups

When I read the links related to this week's culture issue I was intrigued. Although I will not be specific, I am part of a religious minority, and I have mixed feelings about the concentration on ethnic and religious groups by the political candidates. Personally I think that all this stuff about ethnicity and politics should not mix. It may be a good move for the candidates, but I am just not into it. I also think that the religious views of the candidates can say a bit about the person themselves, but that should not be the basis for why a person would vote for them. Voting for someone should be based on what their track record of what they have promised to accomplish, compared to they have accomplished. I think that is the best way of figuring out whether or not they will follow through with their promises. As for religious groups endorsing candidates, I think it is wrong. A religious group should not tell people who to vote for. Everyone's opinion is different, and so they may choose to vote for someone else. A ethnic or religious group should not be allowed to try to control the free will of a free people. Those are my thoughts for today.
