The Creation Myth which has been perpetrated by many religions is a clear indication that gender relations were never meant to be other than advesarial. However one cannot assume that a "man made" explanation for the existence of humankind is authentic. The assumptions made by labeling the genders as the opposite sex is not a biological phenomena but a social construct. Thus alluding that the possibility of an amiable relationship between sexes.
This story was invented to explain Original Sin, to solidify which sex came first and is the is the precursor for the concept that the woman is forever responsible for the mistakes and indiscretions of men. The woman is portrayed as the seductress and the male as the weak duped victim. This proscibed role has enabled the victim of rape to be the perpetrator as well. The criminalization of women has been a recurring theme throughout history from the Salem Witch Hunt to the overall demascuation of males whenever there is a threat to what they consider as their manhood.
When a society has taken for granted that the center of all power is the male priviledge other genders pale in comparison. Perhaps there is a palatable reason why the gender of everthing is assumed to be male until proven otherwise. How can the female gender compete with the terminology which is prevasive on this planet from the preamble of the Constitution ("All men are created equal"), to the phrase "mankind" and the common vein found in the male version of history, Biblical reports and any mention of heroes.
The experience of life as a woman is one of growth. We no longer are able to condone the misgivings as a result of male control as we realize that there is room, and advantage of sitting on the same bench. However, before that is a possibility men must make room for us..
