I do consider myself to be a Christian, but wonder sometimes if that is what I truly believe. I question m faith all the time, and it seems like the more I hang around people with really strong faiths, the more mine weakens. It seems to me that a lot of, but not all, Christians do not practice what they preach. They are full of hate, instead of compassion.
If I had to describe my faith in a nutshell it would be: I believe in a higher power, I believe in heaven, I believe that all are equal, and I believe that you should lead a life helping others. I question if Jesus was the son of God, I question the Bible, and I question myself, about how I can be in a religion, filled with so much hate. I do not read the Bible on a daily basis, I do not pray on a daily basis, I do not believe in Hell, I do not believe in creationism, and I do not believe that it is right to discriminate against anyone.
I am pro-choice, for gay marriage, and my best friend is an Atheist. I do not believe that it is my right to push my faith in someone else. If someone was ever interested in Christianity I would tell him or her about it, but I don’t believe in “saving” people. I don’t believe that there is “one true religion,” and therefore do not believe that I should try to convert others to my faith. I do not believe in Hell because why would a loving and forgiving God put anyone through that. I also do not believe that you have to be a Christian to get into heaven, again why would a loving God deny anyone this pleasure.
I feel that today all Christians want to do is convert the world, make everyone believe what they believe. I am here to say this is wrong. I also believe it to be wrong so say that homosexuality is a sin. Why would God have created them? How can someone be against two people loving one another? If Christianity teaches use anything it is that we should love and accept people of all nationalities, religions, and sexual orientations. If we as Christians are so high and mighty, why not let the “false” religions do the fighting.
Another thing that bothers me is why do you care if someone bashes your beliefs? There are people from all sorts of backgrounds in this site, and all the Christians do is complain about the Atheist bashing their faith. Get over it. If you are strong in your convictions you shouldn’t care what others say about them, and shouldn’t be trying to defend them all the time.
In closing I think that Christians really need to take a good look at themselves. Are you really doing what God wants you to do? Are you loving your neighbor? Are you helping your community? Just take a look, you don’t have to agree with my views, but that is how I feel about the subject.

By questioning your faith instead of blindly following it you are becoming wise. I applaud you. Whatever conclusion you reach, you will likely discover that you are truly comfortable with it.
Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see.
"I think that Christians really need to take a good look at themselves. Are you really doing what God wants you to do? Are you loving your neighbor? Are you helping your community?"
You make an excellent point. It reminds me of a quote I read from Ghandi.
"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
As a Buddhist, I believe Jesus of Nazareth was an enlightened man, but he is not my prophet or messiah. But that doesn't mean I don't respect the ideals he espoused.

I really loved this quote. I had never heard it before reading it last night, and it has stuck with me throughout my day, Thanks.
you just described me! Especially this part:
I am pro-choice, for gay marriage, and my best friend is an Atheist.
I don't believe in Hell or Creationism either.
And I still have the nerve to call myself Catholic. ;-)
Seriously, this is what Christ teaches:
I'm not so on par with the worldly goods bit. Most my stuff comes from Craigslist or Goodwill, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy buying it and whatever else I feel I can afford to need. ;-)
Someday, I will tell you the true (aka my) interpretation of the story of James and John leaving the boat to follow Jesus. The main character in the story is really Zebedee. It's fun times. :-)
"What a crazy random happenstance!"
