I think it is that time again to give some of the new people on the site some tips about blogging, commenting, and ProU itself.

Advice tip 1:

Please do not post more than 2 blogs in a row. There is no reason to post 4,6, or 10 blogs in a row. It is very annoying, and shows your lack of putting effort into the grammar/ the blog itself and takes up too much space on the recent posts. It would be better for you to save the blog and maybe post one blog a day or two if you choose to do so.

Advice tip 2:

Comments such as; "That is cool." "Wow" or any other one worded comments are also very annoying as well. You want to add your opinion about the blog itself, an idea, thoughts, anything you agree on/disagree on, or further input.

Advice tip 3:

This one is pretty important not only to myself, but alot of other people on the site. Space out your paragraphs similar to how this blog is structured. This helps people reading your blogs to stay focused, and makes the blog easier to read in general.

Advice tip 4:

Don't take comments personally, it is very hard not to sometimes, but most people are just trying to help you out especially faculty members. Also just because someone has a "bad" opinion of the ideas in your blog does not mean they think you are stupid, can not write, or hate you.

Advice tip 5:

Think about topics that not many people talk about. Rare topics normally draw alot of people to your blog because it is different. If you really want to vent or want to write about something that matters alot to you that is a common subject, put your own creative twist on it.

Advice tip 6:

Rate other people's blogs. Don't rate on whether you agree or disagree, but rate on the content of the blog itself. Ask yourself these questions to help you:

Was the point they were trying to make clear?
Although I don't agree was their argument presented well?
Was there alot of grammar and spelling errors?

These questions are just to help, you don't have to use them if you don't want to.

Advice tip 7:

This is not something one must do, but to me it is courtesy. If someone comments on your blog pay the respect back to them. If you don't find any of their blogs that interest you or you don't know what to comment about then maybe rate their blog instead.

Advice tip 8:

Don't get discouraged if people aren't reading or commenting on any of your blogs right away. Sometimes this takes awhile. Be patient and wait. In the mean time go and comment on other people's blogs. People may notice you took the time to comment on their blogs so they may pay you the same respect back.

Advice tip 9:

ProU is more than just an intellectual blogging site, you can make friends on here as well. This site has became a second family to me. Get to know people through their blogs or any other way you would like.

Advice tip 10:

Check your blogs for spelling and grammar mistakes before posting. This could be one reason why people might not be commenting ( not always) or rating your blogs. Also don't be afraid to ask for help if you really need it.

Good luck during the contest and happy blogging!
