Okay, so we all know that we should recycle, not litter, help the environment, etc. But the truth is, a lot of us just don't. I recycle when I think about it, but it's not something I do all the time. But now, I feel like I might have more of a cause.
When I saw a BBC article entitled, "Recycling Litter Funds Honeymoon" I was thinking, "WHAT! This has to be a joke."
But it wasn't. A couple from Hampshire, Britain were planning their honeymoon. They had enough money for a cruise on the Queen Mary 2 and for a rental car, but they didn't have enough for the flight home, so they started recycling. But see, this wasn't just your everyday house-hold recycling, it was a full fledged effort. The couple had seen a recycling machine in a store that traded recyclable materials for miles on British Airways. They began picking up trash off the street and turning it in for miles. Within 3 months the couple had racked up 36,000 miles...enough to pay for the flight home.
So, I guess that one man's trash really is another man's treasure. This story was so inspirational to me. While I don't need money for a honeymoon, the idea of earning something that could really pay off would really motivate me.
The couple said that it was ironic because it was sad that there was so much trash in the streets and those careless people were paying for their dream honeymoon. Perfect ending to a perfect story.

I wonder if they could do something to that effect in the United States.
It may actually make people want to recycle for once and perhaps make a difference, even a small one to help our environment.
Oh I'm sure we could, we definitely have enough trash. I think it's just people are too concerned with GLOBAL change to get off their high horse and start with LOCAL change. I wish people would though.

All men dream but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it p
