Like many people in America and globally, I am staying up-to-date with the economic crisis that we are facing in the US.
Barrels of oil are below $90.00 and some gas prices on average are starting to lower but prices are still too high. We are more thankful for gas being under $4, but hoping it will continue to decline. More jobs, including state jobs and employers that were reliable and guaranteed places of stable employment are laying off hundreds and thousands of people before the end of this year. Most people are feeling uncertain, unsure and unsteady about their finances, their jobs, their savings (if they can afford to have a savings account), their investments, access to college loans, grants and scholarships for their children, grocery bills, health care costs, and other unexpected and monthly costs.
Small business owners are complaining that access to credit has made operations more difficult. Companies with employees of 15 have declined to 4. There are varieties of businesses that are facing a crisis that has pushed them to prepare to lay off workers during this quarter or at the beginning of next year. Some employees are being asked to retire early, reduce job hours, or take time off without pay. Many others must wait to be laid off and realize that gaining new employment may be desired but unavailable with the current state of the job market.
All of this uncertainty has increased health conditions such as migraines, high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, anxiety, depression and other stress related illnesses that increase doctor visits, hospital visits, medical bills, prescriptions and decreases income if one has to take off from work for surgeries, bed rest or measures to improve health. If you have aspirations for the future, a desire to complete your education or return to college, get a better job, intend to make investments, expect to contribute to a retirement fund, start a business, or to survive in these economic times, please pay close attention to the state of our economy now and get as much information on the decisions that you make or plan to make.
