Obama a Terrorist...or So Says Republicans

TylerDurden's picture

So, for those of you who don't know by now, it seems that Barack Obama has a relationship with Bill Ayers, a domestic terrorist from the group Weather Underground. At least that's what Sarah Palin and John McCain would have you believe. Today in Colorado Governor Palin attacked Obama's ties with Ayers claiming that he associates "with terrorists who targeted their own country." This comes on the tail of John McCain announcing that, with the election less than a month away, the Republican ticket is going to step up its attacks on Senator Obama and Senator Biden.

First, the fact that Obama and Ayers have met and/or spoke shouldn't surprise anyone. There was an article on it in the New York Times on Saturday, which is how Governor Palin came to learn of this relationship. Had she continued to read the article she would have found that it also said, "the two men do not appear to be close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers, whom he called 'somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8.' "

Come on, John McCain! Come on, Sarah Palin! Are you that worried that if you go toe to toe with Senators Obama and Biden on the issues you're going to lose? Blatently, and unfairly, attacking your opponents on platforms that aren't directly related to the issues at hand; economy, the war, health care; aren't helping anybody. If anything you're making my choice easier. I'm not going to vote for a ticket that doesn't care enough about America to stick to the issues and has to win an election slinging mud. If you want to talk about Obama's voting record in the Senate, that's fair. If you want to talk about his lack of experience in office, that's fair. Those things have a direct relationship to the issues. Other than that keep it out of the media. McCain and Palin...you're on notice.

It's so cute that right after she came out about what she reads...she actually mentions a specific article she has read, and read poorly!

I just posted my own blog on this very thing, but it really begs the question just HOW radical an association with this guy would be even if it did exist. It also calls into question just how radical Ayers is today and how radical some his newer, tamed beliefs really are. Also calls into question what a radical is and compares some of the supposed "radical" beliefs of Obama and this guy to Palin's views on abortion. Palin is the radical in this election. Read and comment!

Which, btw, has been flying around since the start of his campaign, and was disproven long ago. Palin really has some catching up to do!

She didn't find out from this article, she was informed by the McCain campaign, duh. This woman clearly can not do a thing by herself, just look at her mess of interviews. Obama is of color, has been deemed a terrorist in chain e-mails and by far right wingers, and his name is one that a makes people think of the middle east. This was no accident, it's clear what the intent of her charge was. It's disgusting how far out on a limb she went out to scare people. And your right, she only made my choice easier as well.

You are guilty about the company you keep. Ayers is a terrorist of the worst kind who said that he think they didnt go far enough in his past

Hmmm - cherry1779:
I wonder...if we checked the background of every single person you have been friendly with, since you were eight years old, what would surface? And how would we then see you in comparison if one is guilty of the company they keep?

Regarding this whole Ayers thing: Understand, forty years ago the nation was entrenched in severe racial tension and in revolutionary thinking. For anyone who has studied the political atmosphere of the 60s and 70s, it was a confusing time. Things were very different back then. For example, many neoconservatives today were - back then - secular and considered a bit radical in their thinking. What passed for acceptable back then is not what would pass for acceptable in today's uber-politically-correct environment.

People of that generation (Baby Boomers) know this. And yet, in politics, we see conservatives dredging up these scandalous events and persecuting their peers for political advantage.

While I question Barack's judgment in his long-term relationship with Reverend Wright (who is also a child of that radical era) I do not believe this accusation has merit. It is very transparent that this is a smear and I think most reasonable and intelligent people can see this.

Let's stop subscribing to particular parties with their divisive tactics and start questioning their motives like mature adults. If we're going to keel over and believe everything we are spoon-fed by partisan politics, we might as well go live in a dictatorship.

And as far as communism goes - it is an economic and social model, just like capitalism and socialism. The capitalist and the communist are one in the same: they both believe in the success of that particular model. It is not the capitalist or communist model that is evil, but rather the men who corrupt either with greed.

Obama severed on a committee with Ayers announced his candidacy for Senate from his living room and if the only thing everyone on this blog ever reads is from liberal media sources of course you would only get one sided information. He also spent $15MM with Ayers meant for education reform, but was used to indoctrinate small school age children with radical views. Do not be a Kool-Aid drinker and follow blind ideology. These are indeed facts that Obama admitted to on an interview on Fox news with his own lips. Obama could not even get a job with the CIA or FBI because of his association with Ayers, but he wants to be the leader of the free world. I highly recommend that people really investigate his associations, like Jeremiah Wright, Lewis Farrakhan, many other far left liberal organizations like MoveOn.org. Look at his supporters for goodness sakes. Come on please get the facts and learn the truth or don't vote. I hate to think someone won the election because of uninformed voters, just because he is popular. I am not telling you who to vote for, I am just begging you get the facts and make sure it is the truth. Your future depends on it – do you want a socialist nation.

TylerDurden's picture

I hope that you were saying these kinds of things in the last election, as well as this election, about the Republican candidates as well. Otherwise you're just another conservative pundit and we have enough of those. I admit that I'm not 100% committed to either candidate, so blatent attacks don't really help people like me out much.

I'm glad you are questioning Barack's history and associations. These are important questions. It shows you, unlike many voters, did not jump on the "I love Barack Obama" bandwagon without doing research first.

But are you also asking these same questions of the Republican Party candidates? I find that there is tons more hate and smear-filled propaganda floating around about Barack. It makes me wonder why. It makes sense to disagree with a candidate and his/her party's political ideology, but to express such strong hatred and biasness against a mere candidate shows me this "great American society" is filled with hysterical people. Both parties and candidates have questionable ties and backgrounds we can punch holes in. Neither one of them is the Messiah.

Stop expecting it and stop exploiting it.

Further, this will never, ever, EVER be a socialist nation. I repeat this for clarity: America will NEVER be a socialist country. I wonder if you know what must transpire for a nation to become socialist? Have you taken a political science class? (I say this genuinely, no sarcasm meant here.)

America's roots in capitalism are very, very deep. Although extreme capitalism coupled with laissez-faire (those who worship the capitalistic model without acknowledging its corruption through human failing) could move this country toward becoming a welfare state as we are witnessing now with government bailouts abound. Still, we always seem to pull ourselves back from the edge.

The far-left liberal demographic is much, much smaller and less powerful than you give it credit for. If anything, conservatives are currently the dominant demographic in this country, thanks to the significant padding the Religious Right gave to the Republican Party as a whole.

So no, this country is not going to go socialist if Obama becomes President. Universal Healthcare program? No money for it. And even if Obama starts to push government-backed programs in excess (which he won't) they will go the way of FDR's many proposed New Deal programs - that is, nowhere. Most Americans regardless of party are about independence and prosperity, not about handouts.

If anything, an Obama-Biden administration will create a bit more balance between all the differing parties and ideologies in this nation. If a Republican administration comes into power, we will witness a President who will have a very tough time balancing his own party's increasingly rigid stance with the true immediate needs of this nation. Conservatives tend to initiate long-term, drawn-out change, at the expense of the lower classes. They only make changes at the very, very last minute (as we've witnessed recently). I don't believe a Democratic administration will lead us astray in the upcoming four years.

DON'T FALL FOR THE HYSTERIA.

I did not vote for Bush in 2000 I voted for Gore, but chose Bush over Kerry. I am truly an independent voter. Although, I consider myself as a conservative Christian. But I am not committed to either party and in 2004 that was the first time I ever voted Republican. To honor my Grandfather who fought in WWII, the Vietnam and Korean War. Patriotism is one of the most important virtues a president must have. Kerry lacked that virtue.

My main wish for the Democratic Party would be to drop all the special interest groups and get back to their roots. Way too many far left loons are turning the Democratic Party into their party.

Did not want Obama or McCain. I like Huckabee and his fair tax plan, unfortunately the media was so dead set against giving him any creditably because he was a former pastor, he could not get his message out , which I think is a big disservice to the American public. Hillary was my second choice if Huckabee did not make it, but neither one made it, so we have slim pickings’. So I am voting based on who best represents my Christian values.
The fair tax would put politics into a tail spin because the lobbyist and special interest would lost their power and the american people would get their power back. Our government and the media do not want that, they want to control us not us control them.

TylerDurden's picture

I actually agree with this completely. However, I don't believe you can bring your religious values into politics.
There's supposed to be a seperation of church and state, which there has been a lack of for the past eight years. Also, I think you can agree that both the Republicans and the Conservatives have people on the extreme sides that are killing politics in America, but I think we actually have two very decent candidates this year, much better than four years ago.

I agree with your point and I think it has started to turn supporters away from either team of candidates for all of the wrong reason.

We want to hear the issues whether from Obama-Biden or McCain-Palin. I want to know how each one will work towards making life more financially secure with jobs and the economy, more fair with health care, and more balanced for the entire country.

Exercise your right to vote for the issues that affect your life directly.

I am very happy to see that there are younger and new voters who are not blindly following Obama. It is very reassuring to see some of these young voters who are willing to be informed and not let other voters decide for them. That takes a lot of guts to stand up for what you think is right regardless of another’s opinion.

It is important not to be loyal to any party, but want a President that is best for the nation. It is very impressive that your peers have not influenced you to vote for their candidate, because it is the popular thing to do to jump on a band wagon. A prime example was when Jay Leno showed a half a dozen or so college students pictures of Dick Cheney and Nancy Pelosi, they did not even know who they were, but were staunch Obama supporters.

I would also watch more than one News Media outlet. I normally watch CNN and Fox news. NBC has lost all creditability and have actually resorted to dishonest journalism. Do not trust them, CBS has pulled some fast ones too. Some News Orgs have gone so far to attack one and promoted the other even refused to air facts about that Americans have the right to know.

Make sure to watch the debate Wednesday, hope this one is not snoozer.

TylerDurden's picture

For me this my decision on who to vote for won't come down to this last debate as it will for most. It is quickly coming down to vice-presidential nominees and unfortunately for John McCain, and "I love John McCain" , if I may steal a like from Joe Biden, I think he's not going to be getting my vote. I believe, and have seen, that he can be a very capable leader given the chance. However, I don't want to take the chance that if something were to happen to him we would have Sara Palin in the Oval Office. Senator Biden proved at the VP debate that she isn't experienced enough at this time to be in office.

Yes, I do realize that Senator Obama is also not that experienced, which is why I think his pick of Joe Biden was fantastic for him. He has the wisdom of some 35 years of public service to help guide and shape his presidency and if, God forbid, something were to happen to him in office I would feel confident about Senator Biden taking command.

Isn't it scary how most of us, in the back of our minds, are thinking about the possibility of either VP taking over? McCain because of his age and Obama because, well...this nation still has its share of nutjobs.

The debate was good and there were not any surprises. Both guys restated their case, but I was hoping for new questions. The orators keep asking the same thing, I would like hear their view on other issues. It is the same ask and answered questions, over and over and over again.

Unlike most bloggers on this website, I like Palin, she actually got me excited about the election al over again, since the candidates I originally supported for president, did not make the ticket I was pretty disappointed. Then here came Palin, the more I find out about her, the more I like her. Everyone says they want change and fresh new blood in Washington. Then when they get it, they don't want it, man you can't please some people. How can you have fresh new blood in Washington, but will not vote for someone without Washington experience?

Palin keeps it simple and honest. She really looks out for the people she cares about and she cares about the people of Alaska. She could not be bought and she fought the “Good Ole Boy” network and the Big Oil companies. She taxed windfall profits in her state. I must say our current House or Senate has not done that and I am sure they are way to chicken to do that, because then they would bite the hands that feed them. She gave money back to the people she governs, rather than take from the people like our current government does and plans to do even more, while big corporations get richer. Our government, (neither party) will stand up against big business. Why? Well how do you think they fund their campaigns? So what is not to like about her? She ran a town and a state and never did that before either, but she stepped up to the plate and did an amazing job. I love the fact that she is not a Washington insider and does not know their ins and outs. That just proves to me the lobbyist do not have their sticky greedy paws in her and yeah they attack her because they are scared of her. She fights for the people, not for her own self-interest. How refreshing! Republicans do not like her either, they have even gone so far to ask her to step down. Now what does that tell you? Washington insiders do not want her there, because she does not play by their rules. Why can’t people see this? She is like us, she is like the millions of Americans, dissatisfied with our Government and wants someone who looks out for them.
Finally, someone who looks out for us is on the scene. The media attacks her, but who is also in bed with the media, big business, remember who their sponsors are, every commercial you see on TV has influence over what information is feed to you by the media. Do you think for one minute that if the media thought one of their sponsors would drop them the media would run a story detrimental to that sponsor? Who pays the lobbyiest? Big Business. Especially if the news cast gets low ratings for example GE owns NBC. Did they run the story about GE doing business with Iran a country who hates American and wants to do us harm, nope they did not say a word. Wise up people do not blindly trust the Media.

Everyone blames the Republicans, but last time I checked the Democrats have control over the house and senate. So if you ask me whose fault it is, with the mess we are in right now, it is both parties fault and the main reason is they forgot about us.

I like who I like, I have no party loyalties. I am conservative, but not republican; there are plenty of republicans I would never vote. I do not let a political party determine whom I vote for.

The city I live in is actually a democratic stronghold, I could not even vote in a local election if did not vote democratic. I love Sanford Bishop and if Obama wins he may be one of his cabinet members. We correspond regularly.

I would suggest reading lancekates, cosmic, or ksullivan. Lancekates is very much a conservative and won one of the BfP competitions, cosmic is a very popular here and a conservative and ksullivan is very vocal as well. There are many others, but those are the three that I'm most familiar with. Ask how often they have been 'censored' by the staff. They'll tell you that unless they broke a rule, they haven't. Not once.

We have conservatives, liberals, moderates, anarchists and everything in between on staff. Questioning the integrity of all of those people because you didn't read the rules (or didn't remember the rules) and violated one of them (even if it was unintentional) is rather unnecessary.

Palin is the typical conservative Christian. She wants to get into office and shove her personal religious beliefs down every American citizen's throat regardless of THEIR personal beliefs and culture. She wants to completely violate the separation of church and state put into place by our Founding Fathers - and admits it! In front of everyone! And people nod their head and talk of how charming she is!

I do not like her plan for this nation. This nation is not completely made up of conservative Christians, nor should it be.

People complain that Barack Obama became such a celebrity, that people were convinced they were going to vote for him based on frivolous things. Well, as soon as Palin said "bless his heart" she wooed the entire Religious Right.

I have never understood what the Religious Right have in common with conservatives, period. They each claim to be about values, but they are not.

The Bible doesn't advocate killing animals for sport. The Bible doesn't talk about how important it is for every individual to bear arms, because humans are not perfect and we are capable of misinterpreting a threat and possibly killing each other. Or worse, the gun could fall into the wrong hands and spark a killing spree - as we've seen in various schools throughout the nation. I suppose it is okay to take life this way, but say the word "abortion" and they shout of human rights as if they invented the concept.

The Bible doesn't teach that war is the answer to every conflict. We are all supposed to be God's children, so since when do we not care about the killing of innocent civilians in countries we invade? Oh, wait, I forgot - only OUR casualties are important. Who cares about the dirty Muslims? I must have missed that in the New Testament.

Let's face it. The Religious Right was wooed by the Republican Party to garner votes. They are easily swayed, easily misled, and extremely rigid thinkers. No gay marriage, no sirree, because it's against God. Never mind that the marriage they talk of is marriage conducted by the church. A civil court marriage has NOTHING to do with ANYONE'S God. It is a legal binding. But no, no, they say it shouldn't be allowed.

The Religious Right are the perfect weapon. And Palin is their Commander in Chief.

Is that many American people are blindly believing President Obama offers some hope... something about change? I'd like to know a couple things about him though, for example:

1. Occidental College records -- Not released
2. Columbia College records -- Not released
3. Columbia Thesis paper -- Not available
4. Harvard College records -- Not released
5. Selective Service Registration -- Not released
6. Medical records -- Not released
7. Illinois State Senate schedule -- Not available
8. His Illinois State Senate records -- Not available
9. Law practice client list -- Not released
10. Certified Copy of original Birth certificate -- Not released
11. Embossed, signed paper Certification of Live Birth -- Not released
12. Record of his baptism -- Not available

I'll admit I got this in a chain email, but it's all true... and because of a promise of change, many idiots will follow whatever the current administration says. Change from what? Are you complaining about how good our life is? The poorest people in our country have it better than most of the population in Africa and South America. Well-fare allows people to get money without even having to work. Yet they complain and want more change - it's about time people woke up and took a good look at who we just put into office.

I suppose these are mostly good things to know about a major elected official. I do have a couple of quetions though.

One, wha is the significance of a baptism record, like why is it important for election or politics?

The other has to do with the client list....wouldn't that be effected by client attorney priviledge?

One, the baptism record is important because it would show that he without a doubt is christian, which if you consider would have really helped his campaign out. In that case it makes you wonder why it wasn't released. If he wasn't, it would show he lied, and lying is not a quality you want in a president.

Yes, the client list could be protected, but it would show how much work he really did in the law practice. His experience was a major issue in the campaign, again, releasing the list could have helped them tremendously, even though they did win in the end.

Just makes you wonder...

I guess I understand. On a side note though. I was not given any record of Baptism from mine as an adult...I have only heard of the certificates from Catholics...If I remember his faith group was something else. As Americans I dont think we can ask for this record with the whole seperation of church and state stuff. I also think this might have hurt his position given that he was making nice with the Gay marriage topics.

Interesting...on one hand it would prove his honesty and experience...on the other hand it would have totally discredited him in the professional manner.

The rest of this list I totally think are valid points. Like I said interesting

...release any of the documents you list? Its certainly not TYPICAL for a presidential candidate to do so, and there is no legal requirement for it. Simply DEMANDING this kind of thing is nothing but political muckraking, and has no relevance to either the legitimacy of a candidate or the efficacy of that candidate's policies. Some of these claims are also exceptionally misleading. For example, the records of Mr. Obama's live birth have been available for review for quite some time. The birth announcement in the paper has been produced, as have numerous witnesses, and the State of Hawaii has publicly and repeatedly confirmed the birth by producing various legally acceptable records of the event. But even if this were not the case, Mr. Obama would STILL be a natural born citizen under the doctrine of jus sanguinis, because of the fact that his mother was a citizen.

It doesn't matter if you like the man's policies or not (to wit, I have mixed feelings on them), but this "Obama isn't a citizen" crap is one of the DUMBEST conspiracy theories out there. It is completely without a rational basis.
