Have you ever been sent a foreword called something like 'pro-life' or 'illegalize abortion'?? Or, you could be one of the people who sends those out, I wouldn't know. But what I do know, is pro-CHOICE people have got it right. [[have you ever realized that anti-abortion movements call themselves pro-LIFE?? as though anyone who is for people's individual freedom is pro-DEATH??]] Hello, I'm not advocating killing innocent lives or anything even remotely close to that. I'm advocating the fact that the OPTION is out there. I'm defending MY right, and my fellow teen girls' right, to live our lives out without being forced to settle into a 'mom' role. And yes, I do realize there is adoption. But look at the picture, you hear enough about the effing mothers in CHINA, who have to leave there newborn children on the streets because there's only one kid allowed?? If you ask me, abortion should be an option to those people!! I think it is better to not have a kid at all than have one when you know you aren't ready, or don't have a way to care for it, or just plain don't want to! I know, I know, if I'm not prepared to have a child, don't have sex, right?? Wrong. Why do you think there's birth control?? plan b?? That's what contraceptives are for. No, abortion should not be used as a form of birth control, but if you get pregnant and can't have a child at this point, I THINK IT IS BETTER TO GET AN ABORTION THAN RUIN YOUR OWN LIFE TAKING CARE OF A KID. Really, put yourself in the shoes of a girl, 18 years old, right out of high school. You have dreams to go to college, have a successful career, be involved in different activities, get married, and then, maybe, have children. Are you supposed to say "oh, i'm pregnant, looks like i have to give up the rest of my life!! oops!!" Hell no. Seriously, you can say it's so selfish, or heartless, but really no, I'm just putting the future of a teen, like myself, first. If you call that selfish, go right ahead.

As you posted, calling you selfish accomplishes nothing, but if by chance do happen to become pregnant I do hope that you would consider adoption. I hope you realize that we are not CHINA. We do not have a policy on having more than one child, so our children tend to not be left out in the streets.
I hope one day that you learn to care for others, but even despite that I wish you well and have a good night.
You do realize that women already have abortions in China, usually after they find out they're having a girl? Because they're only allowed one child, and they want someone to take care of them when they grow old, they keep trying for a baby boy.
I am pro-choice, but definitely not for the same reasons as you. A teen does not have to throw her life away because she has a baby. I know many wonderful women who are pretty darn successful who began as single teenage mothers. Abortion should most certainly not be the first option they run towards when they find out they're pregnant.
I am pro-choice because I believe that any attempts to illegalize abortion will punish women. The Colorado amendment to define a person as a fertilized egg will make fertility treatments essentially impossible (because in vitro can't be done without using up all those embryos that are created in the process; any that die could be considered murder). Any attempts to narrow abortion to only those who have a life-threatening condition will be met with doctors who don't want to take the risk of being prosecuted or a bunch of red tape needed in order to save the woman's life. A ectopic pregnancies, for instance, always result in the death of the embryo/zygote, and could result in the death of the woman as well, unless it is terminated quickly. Why put the woman at risk because a bunch of people care about the life that won't survive?

I believe in abortion. Also, I think it is slightly funny how people label not doing abortion as pro life which automatically makes the other choice pro death. The reason I believe in abortion is because there is already enough poverty and young mothers who are not yet comfortable in their lives to start a family, enough long lost fathers, and our world is becoming overpopulated. If a mother is contributing to any of these statistics then they should go with abortion.
