Palin, Palin, Palin

A black man and a white woman are about to change the face of America.

Yeah, right.

It really irritates me when I hear about how this is a "change" election. Let's get real. Racism is still here. Sexism is his best friend.

These are the same old politicians doing the same old thing. Debates, lies, negative campaign adds. If one of them really wanted to make a difference how come no one is saying, "Hey, let's sit down and compromise instead of making eachother look like idiots." ?

I don't want to see another debate. I want to see a discussion. A discussion about issues which offers a REAL solution. I think we, as the American people, deserve it. The entire idea of picking the person that can argue the best is antiproductive. Let's pick the person that can work with others the best. ...

Also, Obama smoked weed, McCain is old, Palin lives in Alask, and Biden...he's just kind of there. If I have to hear one more unimportant thing about the candidates which has absolutely no importance to actual politics I think I might just crack. How about...Obama is great at getting the youth vote? McCain is super well known for working across the aisle? Palin offers a true middle class America view point, and Biden is a politician of politicians.

This isn't a beauty pageant. This isn't a game. This is the election for the President of the United States of America.

An election.

We "elect" who WE want.

Use your voice, use your mind, vote wisely. Vote period.

i completely agree. this election has strayed so far from what matters that I have actually refused to watch the debates, the conventions, and even the news!

i feel that it is situations like this that encourage people not to vote.

The continual dumbing down of politics is frustrating....

among the people I talked to -even volunteers for campaigns and people attending political rallies- it was quite clear that people were very passionate about nonissues, and knew very little about what actually matters.

I agree that this election needs to be for the people and we need to decide who will be president not because of what they did before running but what values and solutions they can do for our country. I do believe that corruption is happening in Washington, we do need change and new leadership. I hope that whoever makes president no matter black or white will change the nation for the better.

Why has Americans strayed from the issues, and now worry about the race or gender? The Presidental race has turned into a pagent. You know what is so silly, is that we don't even have the final say in the matter. The electoral votes really elect our president. I know many people who would vote for Obama just because of his race, and Palin just because of her gender. This is ABSURD! There is no reason to vote on that basis.

Yes, I agree with you. Many people are single-issue voters; they do not concern themselves with the issues as a whole but focus on a singular matter to base their vote upon (race, gender, hot-button issue, etc.)

Many Americans claim be about "values" but they show little evidence of this when they ignore umbrella issues for the sake of narrower ones. I know people are passionate about abortion rights, gun control, and gay marriage. These have a great impact on our society. But truthfully, the economy, taxes, foreign policy and related matters should be at the forefront of our focus during elections.

Civil rights issues are something that we tackle in-house. But fiscal and foreign policy issues determine our standing in the WORLD. So presidential elections in particular should be viewed through the scope of changes in our economic/international affairs. And people should vote with this in mind.

Exactly, that's why Americans are looking for social change. This my sound bad, but people don't vote with the economy in mind because they don't understand it.

Maybe...these hot-button issues were created and politicized so the powers that be could distract us while they take control of the umbrella issues. I think many people fall for the ruse.

That and the fact that Gay Marriage and Abortion are moral issues. Still a Christian nation ... still based on morality.

Gay Marriage is moral. How is love not moral?
