I am a firm believer that the words we choose play a huge part in how others perceive us. They are just as important, in my opinion, as the way we dress and the body language we use. Using proper and polite language makes one come off as intelligent, whereas words such as gay and retarded make one come off as being very unintelligent.
I have a confession to make: I used to use words like these. I am very embarrassed that I did so, and doing this experiment is almost like my way of trying to right my past wrongs.
However, I no longer use such words. Instead, I have replaced words such as gay and retarded with other, more intelligent words. For example, I used idiotic and ridiculous.
One of the biggest reasons as to why I previously used such words was that I simply didn’t have extensive enough of a vocabulary to replace them. I blame this on my school’s inability to present students with a very good education, but that is a totally different story.
However, now that I have begun to study for the SATs, my vocabulary has grown immensely, which I am very pleased about.
I just wanted to clear the air about the whole situation, as it is one of my reasons for even doing this experiment.
In closing, I will leave you with some words that on might use to replace those nasty homophobic terms: daft, ludicrous, laughable, dim, dense, obtuse and brainless.

Especially since 'gay' does not in any way mean ridiculous, idiotic, daft, dense, brainless, or laughable. It frustrates me to no end to hear people use the word I use to describe myself as an insult.
BTW, I especially like daft!

I feel the same way, Jack.
Ridiculous is my favorite. Mostly because people often spell it wrong, and its fun to say.
Thank you so much for the comment!
Thanks for the words =)!
