I am the youngest of five children. My father was a child of the generation who grew up during the Great Depression. He later joined the army and fought in WW II. My mother is a retired school teacher. My current step-father is a disabled Vietnam army veteran. He also worked for our federal government and received a Presidential Medal of Honor. I have learned from all three of my parents the meaning of hard work and the value of a dollar which doesn't go far these days.
I spent many years studying modern dance and considered moving to Orlando and auditioning for Universal Studios or auditioning for the show on FOX called So You Think You Can Dance. I only left dance because money was tight and my husband moved us to a rural area in the middle of nowhere. I was given an opportunity to become an instructor but it required a lot of traveling throughout multiple states. The nearest studio is 40 minutes away. I couldn't accept the job.
I am an adventure-seeking person. I crave the biggest and fastest roller coasters. The best ones I've been on are Hulk and Dueling Dragons (fire) both at Universal Orlando Islands of Adventure. I hope someday to try zip-lining and skydiving and just about anything like that.
I love to read. I love to share what I'm reading with others. I would love to be in a book club. I used to be an Educational Consultant and books are my thing.
I am a Health Hazard volunteer and a Community Emergency Response Team Member for my county. We ensure that citizens are prepared for community emergencies such as natural disasters and pandemics. I am trained in Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, Disaster Medical Operations, Search & Rescue, Incident Command, Disaster Psychology, Terrorism Response, Shelter Management, Animal Search & Rescue, Foot Mouth Disease, Ham Radio Operations.
Currently, I am a freshman majoring in criminal justice. I was a School Board Candidate for 2009 and did well in our town's last election in March. I lost but I did better than what I thought I would considering my tough opposition. We are quite hopeful for future campaigns.
