To tell you the truth, I am very scared for my future. I am 16 years old and live in America. At this age, I am unable to vote in the upcoming elections. This scares me because with our next president, the future of our country will be determined.
The way I see this whole situation is that we are in big trouble, no matter what.
First, our economy is in danger. Whether the “bailout plan” goes through or not, we are on the verge of a disaster. The dollar gradually losing its value, and there is nothing we can do about it but sit and watch. Of course, businesses that outsource their work are not helping, but what can one teenager like me do about that?
Also, I don’t see a bright future for our government either. The two candidates for president definitely have many flaws. I truly believe that we are in for some trouble if Obama wins, though. I haven’t found him to be that great of an orator, or very qualified or experienced. The fact that some people have bought into his façade of not being an elitist also scares me. From what I know, he was raised by his rich, white grandparents who instilled socialist ideas in him and sent him to expensive private schools. However, this is not to say that McCain does not have his own set of flaws.
Either way, our government is almost completely run by elitists. I believe that we should look to the ideas of Thomas Jefferson for a basis of how to fix our government. We need the power to be in the hands of the hard working, common people, rather than the rich elitists who know virtually nothing about our problems.
I suppose that by all of this I am just trying to say that I am worried. I would like everything to be alright in our great nation, but in my heart I know that it will take nothing short of a miracle to solve the problems we are facing.

"I haven’t found him to be that great of an orator, or very qualified or experienced."
No mention of policy, voting record, or other matter of political relevancy? Shouldn't that be the main issue in determining a candidate's eligibility?
Yes, I get what you're saying. I might go into greater detail on the faults of BOTH candidates in a future blog, but this one was just meant as a quick overveiw of what I think about the situation we're in. Which is, in my opinion, a difficult and bad one.
sorry buddy not to offend you but you look like your taking a page out of a Karl Marx book. Once again no offense, but I'm a little more concerned about you and our younger generation picking up communist ideas rather than the current economy. In other words, dont worry so much our economy has survived much worse than this, just make sure you hit the history books every now and then.
I sure hope I'm not a communist. I'm kind of upset that I came off sounding like one. I truly apologize for that.
I do "hit the history books". I'm actually really passionate about law and history and hope to one day earn a degree in law. Right now I'm absolutely fascinated by the ideas of the Jeffersonian Republicans, even though up until recently I thought that I was one of those people who thinks we should get back in touch with the ideas of our founding fathers.
Thanks for your comment, though. I'll make sure to go into more detail with my ideas the next time I do a blog like that so that I don't come off sounding so much like a communist.
