Victoria Lindsey Beating

On March 30, 2008 eight teenagers severely beat a 16 year old honor student named Victoria Lindsey. These 8 teenagers, 6 of them girls and 2 of them boys, are being charged with kidnapping, battery, assult, unlawful imprisonment, ect... they are being tried as adults and could potentially serve 20 years to life in prison. The girls beat up Lindsey for 30 straight minutes and video taped it while the two boys basically stood as 'look outs'. Lindsey was/ is recovering in an intensive care unit in the local hospital. Now... all of this took place, allegedly, because Lindsey was 'cyber bullying' the girls over Facebook. Then again, they later found out that Lindsey's Facebook account may have been hacked into, and she really didn't cyber bully anyone.

My response?

What the hell is wrong with people?

Okay, first of all, you don't do something illegal and video tape it, and second of all, facebook? Are you kidding me? FACEBOOK?! To me, cyberbullying is a load of shit, unless someone is threatening to kill and rape you shut the hell up and take it for what it's worth. Petty little girl high school drama over the internet is a joke. Most of us have fallen victim to cyber bullying, but have you put someone in ICU for it? I know I haven't. If someone bully's you over Myspace, Facebook, your blog, IM or whatever then, like I said before, take it for what it's worth. If this person can't come up to your face and tell you how they feel then why should you give them the time of day? Grow up.

These 8 teenagers are insecure bullies. They PREmeditated this disgusting, violent crime to do what? "Teach her a lesson?" I can't even imagine what in the hell would come over this people that would make them do such a thing. To repeatedly beat a 16 year old girl for over 30 minutes?

This happened to a 16 year old female honor student. It could have been me. It might have been you. They not only beat this girl to a pulp but they also did something much worse- they raped her of her pride and dignity. They video taped this beating with 5 cameras and posted it on youtube for the whole world to see. She was defenseless. I don't even want to begin to think about the years of therapy this young girl will have to go through. Her life could very well be ruined.

This is a severe crime. Send them to prison for LIFE. They should make an example out of these girls- "Hey, even if you have a vagina, we're still gonna kick your ass for kicking someone else's ass." And eye for an eye doesn't leave the whole world blind... you cannot fully understand what you've done to someone until it is done to you.

Now the parents of the girls, and even the victim's parents, are blaming youtube and Myspace. No, no, no, NO! Take some damn responsibility. Youtube doesn't make someone beat someone else to a bloody pulp. Myspace doesn't make girls bitches. These girls are immature and insecure, a disgusting excuse for young women.

Sick. Just absolutly sick. I really hope they get life. I can't tolerate bullshit like that. It's a prime example as to why I dislike high school and my age group so much. Teeny bopper girls are mean.

The whole thing is bull. I hope those 8 teens get a longer term than the Jena 6, or people are going to be outraged.

I really do not understand why children are becoming more and more violent. And what's worse - they're enjoying it. These girls felt so damn proud of themselves for nearly killing this girl that they put the video of themselves online so they could brag about it. It's disgusting and it's horrifying.

YouTube, Facebook, Myspace, none of these sites are to blame - they didn't tell the girls to beat anyone to a bloody pulp and they sure as hell didn't facilitate these girls with the means to do so, they just gave them someplace other than the schoolyard to tell people about it.

Furthermore, cyberbullying or no, that is absolutely no reason to send a girl to the ICU. Grow up! You're not 5 anymore and you certainly are not going to get away with just a slap on the wrist and a disdainful look from the authorities. What these girls did was a premeditated violent act that they took pride and enjoyment out of. These girls should be served with the maximum sentence because they deserve it. They ended their rights as "children" the moment they decided to carry out a premeditated act of attempted murder.

So you think this 16 year old girl who ,obviously, can't defend herself; considering she was getting her ass kicked by 6 other girls; should have gotten beaten like that because she can't say shit to their faces? Now come on, would you walk up to 6 girls and talk shit? I dont think so. Furthermore, you don't know the TRUE story. And neither do I; but i am sure as hell not going to tell you she should have gotten her ass beat like this. No; it is wrong and all 8 of them should be tried as adults and get life in prision. What i think is REALLY wrong is...not ONE of those 8 kids stood up for the girl or said something?? Apparently, our society is really messed up right now and if we don't try them as adults and put them in prision for a long ass time then kids are going to see that and keep doing it. They are going to see that they won't get punished that bad. Its just wrong. This situation is wrong. Many people talk shit to me but you dont see me getting 5 of my friends to lure her to my house to beat her almost to death.

"the fact that she is scared to talk shi* in real life gives her the right to get beat up." Apparently you haven't seen the video, or you're just a kid yourself. Getting 'beat up' is totally different than being lynched.

oh no an honor student. isn't everyone an honor student now adays? either way the kids that beat someone up over facebook is pretty lame. but i highly doubt it was "hacked". the lawyer she has is playing that card down. lets be serious, if it was hacked into, when she was being confronted she would have told the group that her account has been compromised. what this story doesnt tell you is that they had to have confronted this girl prior to their actions. it's not like someone is just going to beat the shi* out of someone without approaching them about what they've done. futhermore, if her acocutn was hacked she would notice this activity going on. there are too many holes in this story. the fact that she is scared to talk shi* in real life gives her the right to get beat up.

Uhm yea, I've herad that it wasn't actually hacked too. I didn't really believe it in the first place but I wanted to put all the senarios down. I still don't think that she should have been beaten, though. I mean come on, how could you get so worked up over one girl?

"the fact that she is scared to talk shi* in real life gives her the right to get beat up."
That was my whole point, kind of, just inverted. If someone doesn't have enough courage to tell you something to your face then why give them the time of day? I mean seriously, how immature and insecure can they be? It happens to many kids every day, probably more severely than the girls who beat up Lindsey, but they don't usually lock them in a house and beat on them for a half an hour, knocking them unconcious. There are other ways to deal with these kind of situations, violence doesn't have to be the answer. As a matter of fact, you don't even have to have an answer, just walk away. It's taken even myself a while to accept that philosophy, but it can be done.

All in all, people just need to grow up.
