SOMETIMES I WISHED I WERE INVISIBLE
I FIGURE IF NO ONE COULD SEE ME
MY SECRET WOULD BE SAFE
I HAVE HAD THIS SECRET FOR A WHILE
AFRAID THAT SOMEONE WOULD KNOW
THAT I AM AN ADDICT
WHO HAD REACHED AN ALL TIME LOW
OH, DON’T GET IT TWISTED I CARRIED IT WELL
NO ONE KNEW MY LIFE WAS A LIVING HELL
I BOUNCED AROUND FROM DOOR TO DOOR
ALL I WANTED WAS JUST ONE MORE
ONE MORE HIT, ONE MORE BLAST
KNOWING DAMN WELL IT AIN’T GONNA LAST
THEN IT HIT ME LIKE A BRICK
WHY DO I KEEP DOING THIS SHIT?
I PLAYED THE GAME, I PLAYED THE ROLE
MY WHOLE LIFE WAS OUT OF CONTROL
I BEGGED, BORROWED, LIED, CHEATED AND STOLE
HUH, I EVEN TRICKED BUT NEVER HOED
CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT, CALL IT WHAT YOU LIKE
I WAS LIVING A TERRIBLE LIFE
SO NOW I HAVE YET ANOTHER CHANCE TO MAKE IT
YOU BEST BELIEVE I AM GOING TO TAKE IT
I AM GOING TO MAKE IT THIS TIME I KNOW
CUZ THIS DISEASE HAS GOT TO GO
ONE DAY AT A TIME THEY TELL ME

SOON MY LIFE WILL BE BACK ON TRACK

IT’S GOT TO GET BETTER

What is slam poetry? I never heard of it. Just wondering about its definition, exactly.

I am not suggesting that anyone changes. This really applies to me. It is a statement of how no matter how many times a person screws up God always gives us another chance to make life better. The progression for me is just that, going from a screwed up confused individual to the better and still progressing person that I am today. Just like many others have done and are in the progress of doing. Likewise I am not being rude.
