"Vote for Honest Abe"

I think that I would just like to remark on just exactly HOW remarkable this campaign is.
For over 200 years, typically older, white males have ruled the United States. Well, I guess I shouldn't say "ruled", that would be unpatriotic of me wouldn't it?
For over 200 years, typically older, white males have GOVERNED the United States.
Undeniably, the country has been in good hands for the most part. I was never in one of those history classes that made its students memorize all of the president's and the order in which they served, but there are definitely those unforgettable leaders that even I can recall.
Today I was in my AP English class that is full of bright and inspired individuals. I swear, unless they were mormon, the entire class was there at the democratic caucus and many were volunteering. To me, that's really exciting. At my previous school I was on student council and our toughest job was getting our classmates involved and excited about what was happening in their OWN school--let alone their own Government. Anyway, I'm wandering from my subject! I was in my class today and one of the girls in there had a shirt on it that said "vote for Honest Abe". I don't know about you, but I thought that was pretty great. It made me think about the mormon girls who bought Mitt Romney shirts but won't be able to wear them anymore.

Ok, back to my very FIRST sentence. This 2008 campaign is remarkable. I love it. This is my first year that I am able to vote and I am so excited. Personally, I think that this is exactly what, or definitely a big help, to what America needs right now. People are getting involved and interested in what is going on in the country. With interesting candidates, citizens must now take a close look at the issues facing the country and how each of those issues effects and forms that citizen's opinion. I don't know. Personally, I'm an Obama fan. You can say whatever you'd like, but here is my favorite thing about him: he brings the people together. White and black, old and young, rich and poor, and he brings these different types of people together and makes them all excited about the campaign for the future.
As I stated in my first blog, I live in Idaho, one of the most red-tinted states there are. As some people may like to bring up, we also had a KKK type group that lived (no longer) in the northern parts of the state. Barack Obama is a black democrat and he came to Idaho on February 2nd. I was there along with the approximately 13 or 14 thousand others who were packed into the Taco Bell Arena that maxes out at 12,000 seats. It was just amazing. Let me say that. I have pictures and more to write about it later because for now I have some physics notes to write.

Anyway! I'm excited! There's more to come on this and, oh, btw, Mr. Obama is ahead in the delegate counts!
