I'm not a smoker, but this is definately getting on my nerves. Only because alot of my friends and my parents smoke. And, because I think it's stupid to ban people from smoking at places.
What happened to smoking sections? I liked getting asked when walking into a resturant smoking or non? It was a perfect set up. Now, people are coming in banning smoking from anywhere they can.
According to this article that I found on Yahoo! news, at least 5 of Atlantic City's casinos are going to be SMOKE FREE. It's mostly for their employees, but they probably smoke, too.
My question is why? Do they not know how much business they are going to lose by this? People are too lazy to move from the gambling floor to lounges to light their cigerettes. I mean, I guess it's good they are trying to improve the enviroment for their employees, but it's a casino, who cares?
And, you know it will becoming soon, right? Soon people are going to venture and try and get bars to be smoke free. Of all places, bars. I say when you go to a certain place like a bar, you should expect it to be dirty anyway. It's a bar. So, why wouldn't you be able to smoke there? If you can drink there, you should smoke.
Now, I can understand resturants and even possibly bowling alleys on Sundays. But, they are going to go on a smoke-free raid, I can feel it. I think it's pointless. Seperating the smokers was good enough. Invest in a fan or one of those machines that purify air. These places are going to lose business if they ban smoking altogether.

I'm not sure where you live, but here in California most/almost all public places are smoke-free. There don't seem to be any problems here with it.

It's Worth Reading
Yeah. I live in Massachusetts and it is illegal to smoke in public places including, but not limited to: malls, stores, restaurants, clubs, and BARS.
I think it's absolutely fabulous! The problem with restaurants that have smoking and non-smoking sections? There are really no non-smoking sections. I've lived with people who smoke all of my life and smoke travels. It sticks to walls, toilet paper, fabric, and drifts down halls and upstairs. Just because the person next to you isn't smoking doesn't mean it won't travel to your booth. Smoke invades everyone's space especially if it is indoors. And that, to me, is invading my human rights. Air purifiers aren't going to work.
Want to know what people do now when they are in a bar and want to smoke? They go outside! I know, it's a pretty difficult thing, but they do walk 5 ft to the door. I hate smoke, I hate the smell and the way it makes me feel and I am very sensitive to it. It was such a good feeling when it was banned from public places. My parents are not allowed to smoke in the house, though usually they sneak it in the kitchen or bathroom when I am not home. And I ALWAYS know when they do. If they want to make themselves sick (and they have) that's fine with me. Just don't give me cancer while you're at it.
