Some call them Angel Kisses. Some call them ugly. Some are teased because of them. Some have them during the summer and lose them during the winter. We’re told lemon juice fades them. We’re shown how make up can cover them up. People with them a rarity on television or in movies. Dogs have been named after them.
The “them” that I refer to are freckles. I’m covered in them. Chances are, you know at least five people who are covered in them, or you yourself are. Somehow though, freckles seem to have obtained a bad rep. Freckles are just little dots that decorate skin (or clusters of melanin for those of you who prefer more scientific descriptions.) They only thing the normal freckles really do are take up space on your skin. For some reason, perfectly normal as they are, society has deemed freckles as an imperfection.
The idea of freckles as an imperfection isn’t helped by make up companies like “Barely There” who advertise how their products help cover freckles up. If you google the word freckle many of the articles that pop up explain how to use lemon juice to fade them. Actresses such as Lindsay Lohan at one time or another make comments about how they think their freckles make them look ugly.
I however am proud of my freckles. I believe they don’t make me ugly but enhance my looks. I’m not just an ordinary face, I’m slightly unique. My freckles make me me. I’ve learned to play with the hand I was dealt and try to use my freckles to my advantage. I try to use my freckles to help me stand out from the crowd.
We’ve all got some “imperfection” or “flaw.” After all, nobody is perfect without a lot of touch up. We’ve all got a distinguishing feature. We just have to learn to accept it and use it to our advantage because do we really want to look like everybody else?

Although I am not covered in them I have them across my nose and near my cheek bones. Like a line of them. I agree they make a person unique. I am "gifted" anyway lol because I have a birth defect. I have 11 toe nails instead of 10. I thought about getting it surgically removed so I would be normal but my doctor said it was really cool and so have alot of people. But we really all do have something that makes us different. Good Blog.

Wait... you have eleven toe nails? Just toe nails? How does that work? Sounds interesting.

On my right food second toe I have 2 toe nails instead of one. The doctors thought they would seperate, into another toe, but it never did.

Awesome. I totally want to see something like that. Hubby has the uber long second toe which is rather amusing. It's like another finger. It cracks me up.
I've seen an extra toe too.. but never just an extra toe nail.

I will take a picture and post it in a blog or forum something progressive. I will pm you if you want to see. I don't care what people think I like to put it all out there. I have heard everything in the book so nothing is new.
That is pretty cool too. I think my normal one is like that
My boyfriend Cory drew gumbi (sp)? on my toe and it was really funny. It used to really bother me, but now I really don't care.

I do want to see... but not if it's going to freak you out lol. I do hereby swear I don't have a foot fetish (they're actually quite disgusting)... I'm just rabidly curious!
I have like the ugliest feet ever. My right foot is turned funny at the ankle, I have a knot where I broke the bone in that foot and one of my toes looks smashed where I was trying to leap like a fricking idiot into a moving car and it got ran over. I still rock the flip flops constantly though. That foot is to me what scars are to boys... reminders of all the idiotic things I did in my youth.

It sounds quite funny LOL the way we are talking about it but it is just in our nature to be curious. I dont have a foot fetish either... I agree feet are quite disgusting. As i think butts are, but that is another topic.
Ouch! I have never broken a bone but I have ankle problems. I can directly turn both my feet inwards. I have to wear braces at work (cloth ones). My feet are tiny like my hands. I wear a size 4 in girls. That is comedy.
Leaping into a car! wow LOL I'm sorry it is not funny you were hurt, but I found that really funny. I am odd though. It is good to look at it that way though battle scars.
I don't wear open toe shoes I get constant stares. Like I'm not one of them...

It is quite funny. The girl that was driving actually wet her pants when she realized she'd run me over. Everyone was literally laughing so hard they were crying when they realized that aside from my foot I was fine. It was just one of those idiotic things that, while incredibly painful, was also incredibly deserved and quite comical. I most certainly won't try it again, though. They still laugh at me about it and it's been nearly 10 years.
I hate people who stare. They do that to Alo too because of his trach and vent. It makes me want to do something completely idiotic like flash them to give them something to stare at. Adults are the absolute worst about it. You really do want to tell them you're human too.
Insane.

we learn from our mistakes. At least you learned from it. Some people would do it again for fun.
Staring is annoying I agree. People don't have better things to do but stare and gossip. Adults are the worst. Kids are bad too, but that is more understandable. It also makes me want to do something crazy too. I will normally give them the crazy stare and then they leave me alone. I naturally look pissed off at work though anyway, because actually I am. I hate retail.

Wow. That is pretty cool.
I actually love it when girls have freckles.
I dont. lol but its so cute!
And yeah, I dont understand why people would want to cover them up...
God gave you them So they are not a mistake. Or an imperfection =]
I have them but mine tend to be barely noticeable unless I get a lot of sun... and then they pop up across my nose and cheeks and on my legs. They've never really bugged me. Nearly everyone in my family has them. My husband has them across his back and it's the most adorable thing ever. I love tracing them, lol.

What about playing connect the dots? My friends want to play that game with me all the time. Of course, they usually have sharpies in their hands...
I love freckles too, i think they actually make a person more attractive rather then less :D
I have freckles everywhere. And I mean everywhere. I even have one on the bottom of my foot (but I don't think that's actually a freckle, because it's in the same place I stepped on a tack as a child). I think as I've grown up, they've gotten a little less noticeable, at least across my face. Or, at least, I don't notice them much anymore.
I have a really cute on in the shape of a shooting star on my right shoulder blade. I love it. I have a nice little cluster of them right above it too.
So yeah, freckles rock. :)

I have this awesome freckle on the corner of my right eye. I love it. I also have a light dusting across my face when I go out in the sun, which I must sadly say is not enough.....
I've even got one about 3/4 of a inch about my right knee. I've also got them all over my arms and a few more on my legs....
But what I'm trying to say, besides giving you a list of all my freckles, is that I couldn't imagine my body without them. I love them. They make ordinary body parts cooler. Like who cares about my knee? Well, when I show you the freckle there it suddenly gains merit! Well, not that much, but it's still cool to show off your freckles.
I've been made fun of for having freckles, but hey, I've got an awesome freckle in the corner of my right eye and you don't. Tough luck, kid.
(It's not literally IN my eye. It's off to the side, but it's in that spot that it's part of the eyes, not the face in general, the temple, the cheekbone, whatever..)
