The idea of no baby at all...maybe later?

I am a high school senior and i am Catholic.  My religion tells me to follow the ten commandments, you know the idea of "dont take the Lords name in vain, though shall not steal, though shall not commit adultry".  I love being Catholic, however the beliefs of it and I sometimes just dont agree.

Recently my mother had a surgery that would make her no longer have kids.  If my mom did not have this surgery she would have died.  In the eyes of the Catholic church she was very wrong and sinned to a great extent.  I am so thankful my mother got the surgery, however, my mom and i were talking and she said that if she would have asked a priest at our church whether or not she should have gotten the surgery the priest would have told her not to get it and that if she died it was the plan of the Lord.  I have a real probably with this.  A man we see once a week was going to indirectly kill my mom.  Does anyone esle see a problem with this?

Every week my church gets a group of teenagers together to pray downtown at our local abortion clinc.  They pray that the women will change their mind at the last minute and have the baby.  I am FOR ABORTION!  The Catholic church teaches us that abortion is always bad and should never be done no matter how bad the circumstances are.  I disagree with this 100%!  The woman has a right to chose.  Everyone should always have a choice

Another thing my religion tells me is that condems are bad, sex is bad until you have mairriage, but come on.  Everyone knows someone who is doing it out of wedlock and it just make the word abstinence a word in the dictionary.  My belief is that if a person has sex, be safe, use a condem or a diaphram, or some sort of birth control.  It is better to be safe then have an STD that has no cure or a baby that neither you or the person you slept with is ready to take care of.

Everyone has a right to chose and no one should be told any different.  No matter what the circumstances are always stand up for what you believe in.  Even if it means going against the crowd.

Sounds like your on a path many of us have taken. I'm ethinically christian but not religiously or spiritually taken. My aunt however walked away from it (she grew up babtist) and came back to it (she considers herself catholic...but it seems to be a different way of veiwing catholism than those who grow up in it.)

I would just caution you to be careful and not lash back in being 100% for abortion...that can be as dangerous and damaging to women as being 100% against it can be for babies.

Interesting dilemma.. Would the priest listen to you if you said it was God's plan to get your mom to undergo the surgery? In your case your stance might seem fair but dont you think it's an extreme to say you are completely against abortion?

no I think she said she was for abortion and disagreed with the catholic church 100% that abortion is always bad.
