What's with the backwards s?

Kinkatia's picture

Has anyone else noticed the backwards s in the banner at the top of the page? I'm sure a lot of you have; a lot of you are, after all, very observant people.

I sure noticed it. And it has been bothering me since, plaguing me with the question: Why is that s backwards?

I feel like there's some hidden progressive meaning behind it. But then my inner editor rears her ugly head and turns that thought around to be just as backward as that letter. How is having a letter in a word backwards progressive?

And so I am still left wondering, 'Why? What's the point?'

I very much want to apply some meaning to it. I want there to be some sort of symbolism pertaining to it, or perhaps an allusion to some famous work I have, in my obliviousness to the world, not heard about. But what?

And all the while, there is this little sneaky opinion floating around in the back of my mind, laughing at my misplaced distress and telling me it's only backwards for design purposes, to make it look cool, different. I do not like that opinion, nor do I want to believe it. Not only does a lack of progressive meaning seem to defeat the purpose of this entire site (Yes, blatant over-exaggeration. I am aware of it.), but that s has become a pet peeve of mine, and only having a good reason behind its state of backwardness can make it stop bothering me.

Does anyone out there have a theory on the little letter? Or do you actually know the reason why? I'd be glad to hear it, just to be able to put it out of my mind and progress onward!

Wow... I don't think I even noticed it until now...

Maybe to look "cool" or different... to look "progressive!"

Very, very true. It doesn't stop the dang s from bothering me, though. I just want to defenestrate it!!!

Pretty sure it's just for design purposes... unless there's something the founder isn't telling me... /:Oh please Oh please Oh please...

I would say it is like that because it stands for progress. In order to be progresive, you must start from the beginning (backwards) and move forward. Kind of like correcting yourself. Yes I have noticed that since day one.

Hmmm...I like that theory...but then shouldn't the first s be the backwards one?

I was developing a theory of my own last night, but I can't really remember it...something about how the two s's are facin each other....

Good theory of starting from the beginning and being progressive... I like it!

You took the words right out of my head. I had plans to write a blog about this a while ago, but never got around to it.

I never planned to blog on it at all...it just got to the point where I couldn't take it any longer!

I noticed it too, but I didn't obsess overit. I was just like, "Wow. The S is backwards. That's wierd. Must be part of the logo or something. *shrugs*" and I just dismissed it. I don't think it really stands for anything, but the fact that you thought to stop and question if it was shows that you're probably more "Progressive" than I am. Hah.

You know what I think? I think the backwards S is just a conspiracy to make YOU stress over it and not be able to progress like you need to on this site. Hehehehe. *shifty eyes* Don't look at me! It wasn't my idea! I swear!

But it worked, didn't it??? Heheheheh! VICTORY FOR ZIM!!! lol.

Honestly, I think it's simply just a way to fancy the site up. That's all. I think you're making a bigger deal out of it than it really is. lol. You make me giggle.

It might just be a conspiracy...

And I know I'm making a bigger deal out of it than it is. It's just one of those things I'm very anal about...xD I had to blog about it to calm down about it.

Well, to make progress, sometimes you have to stop and take some time to reflect. Maybe the backwards "s" represents reflecting on yourself? That's my guess...

Reflection?
That actually makes a lot of sense...
Well, if it had no meaning before, it does now!
In my mind at least. xD
