I just finished a Newsweek article about the fact that there seem to be fewer Black Americans voting for Barack Obama than there are Black Americans voting for Hillary Clinton.
There are a couple of things that irritate me there.
Firstly: it's over 600 days until the election. SIX HUNDRED. That's what, 20 months? Ridiculous. How is a poll now going to tell us anything? Hillary could turn out to be a space alien in that amount of time.
Secondly: Newsweek has yet to predict anything correctly. Y2K scare anyone?
Thirdly: Who cares? As long as people are out there and voting, the American public should be happy.
Speaking of voting, I just sent in my voter's registration form a few days ago- courtesy of my high school comparative politics class. It seems to me that a person would have to be ridiculously lazy not to be registered to vote. It took less time for me to do that than it does for me to flip through the channels on my tv.
Also- everyone has obviously heard Biden's (now) infamous slip up about Obama as being the first "clean" and "articulate" Black man to run for president?
I find it amusing that he can say such a terrible thing once, but the hundreds of slip ups our president has made aren't paid nearly as much attention.
Discussions in my politics class are still raging over Iran and Nigeria. I'll keep you posted.... we are having a US Ambassador in class tomorrow to participate in our discussions.
I believe I'll ask THEM how they feel about candidates putting themselves in the running for president so early in the game.
Oh, and maybe throw in a little Newsweek info too.
Seriously, it's addicting, everyone should read it. They had really great facts about brains one week
Sigh.
Good news? Heroes is on in 10 minutes. Hallelujah.

i agree.
yep.
What I find interesting is that whether who wins, be Clinton or Obama, wouldnt it be a first. And I do think that more people need to get out and vote because one vote counts and many people dont realize that.
I agree. It's a shame how few people vote in our system. But! There are a lot of people who maybe shouldn't be voting. For example, do you really want someone voting who thinks watches "700 Club" regularly? How about the masses of people who believe that we should run our country under biblical law? It's a good thing that they have a right to vote and I would never deliberately infringe on it, but sometimes I'm glad they stay home on election day.
(if you can't see the fnords they won't eat you)
i didn't even think of that one, but you are completely correct. speaking of the 700 club, did you hear about their outrage over a jesus halloween costume?
good times.
