An act of violence or a form of art?

Why do grown ups see graffiti as such a bad thing? i kno, i mean if its all over the community of course why not get mad. I on the other hand like it as long as it looks like it took work and that people actually put some thought into the way it would look and how it would be made. But why do people post up names of their gangs, crews, cliques everywhere? is that really the point of art? To make a statement i understand cause i would too, but to just cause more trouble to a neighborhood i dont think so. I like seeing people at school with there booklets and see them drawing. i sit next to a kid in my first period and i always see him doodling away more than actually paying attention =). Its interesting to see how creative a person is. some of the drawings i have seen seem real good, something i wouldn't have thought of. Why can't we just focus more on the art and not on standing our ground and trying to gain respect? i say we should stop writing on walls and in bathroon stalls and start creating art just to look at. Generations of art creators, as i like to see them as, have come to show what they can make/represent. Other people just take it to a new level and amazing and at the same time dangerous. Do they not know they cause violence to our communities, neighborhoods, cities, whatever and where ever it is?

ART!

I used to live in a town that had an absolutely amazing graffiti artist. Downtown was an old house that had been partially torn down by something or another. A single wall was left up and it drove everyone nuts. No one wanted to tear it down because the house had been there forever, but... it was ugly. The city council contacted this guy and asked him to work his magic... he did a fantastic job and everyone loved it. Not long later someone got it into his or her mind to tag it into oblivion. I've never seen a town of people so pissed about missing graffiti.

There is a difference between art and idiocy. We appreciate the former, even if it is graffiti style, but the latter is pointless, trashy and in poor taste. No one gives a flying flip if you banged your sister against the bathroom wall, banged your neighbor's sister against the bathroom wall, if you think you own the town, hate this person or that person, are going to war with this click or that... we learned everything we really cared to learn when you decided it was your mission to inform the world that Crips should die. People like that I just want to find and kick. (and by you in all of that, I don't mean you.. I mean those that participate in the idiocy.. it's just a bad habit, still not broken.)

Do they care about violence or community image? Not really; they tend to be the ones responsible for quite a large part of it far beyond the graffiti they've sprayed all across the town.
