Almost killed trying to drag your fellow comrad out of a trench hole...when suddenly a bang and then everything dims to blackness. you wake up in pain, screaming your friends name, you smell iodine and your neck is stiff...you can;t move youe left legs, and pain radiates threw you like so sharply your clench your jaw and swear you hear your teeth crack...now imagine...when the pain subsides. youlear you were hit by sharp metal. because a grenade went off next you you, sclicing your neck, and severing your toe...now imagine after going threw all of that, your best friend is dead. Now Imagine haveing to relive that nightmare every night.
That, my friends is my grandfathers story. He is a vietnam veteran, awarded two purple hearts...However, my grandfather had to endure being called "Baby killer" "rapiest" was even spit on by fellow Americans. Because he served his country. For the past years sense that war he has suffers from Post Tramatic Stress Syndrom. Something that today alot of our soliders today suffer from. Now tell me why, after years and years of suffering, my grand father is just now beeing awarded VA benefits. This has not just happend to my grandfather, but veterals dated back from WW Two to even today. IT seems that Illegal immigrants get first prority to our Veterans. Did you know that half of todays homeless are veterans?? cast out of hosiptals. . Va hosiptals are being shut down left and right. Right now Waco Texas is fighting to stay open.While Illegal immigrants are being awarded DRIVERS LICENCES and SOCIAL SECURITY CARDS....then applying AND GETTING SSI. Things our tax payers work hard for, and expect when they retire...Now don't misunderstand ,me, i have nothing agenst people wanting to come to our country, heck in my opinion America is rockstar and everyone should want to come, IF THEY COMTRIBUTE, and do it the right way. If you want it bad enough, then become a citzen, do not steal from our hardworking taxpayers and then claim another country. Anyways i am off subject, how is the goverment going to help out illegal immigrants, and then ignore the veterans? The people who sacrificed being with families, and loved ones, who missed their daughters first words?? who were shipped out before seeing their first baby enter the word, who lspilled their blood, gave their life, making it possible for people to come to this country.

Why is congrss giving money away to Illegal imigrants, when our legal immigrants and citizens are suffering as it is????
Futhermore, why is our goverment so hell bound to concentrate on fixing other countries, homeless, and starving when our contry is suffering just as badly??? Just because we have the higest obesity rate, does not mean that our country does not have people who need help. More than 400 soliders from the iraq war wound up homeless. Thats just recent numbers. I am probably the most consistently against illegal immigration person at ProgU. But , while I generally agree with your blog and feel your anger is justified, it does not help the cause to spread inaccurate information. So I am going to correct a couple of things and add some information of my own.
There are only 5 states that are still giving illegal aliens drivers licenses and two of those (Maine and Oregon) have passed new laws which go into effect this year that will terminate that practice.
There are NO illegal aliens getting social security cards unless they are somehow committing fraud. Our laws do not permit illegals to apply for Social Security Cards. Likewise, they are not eligible for SSI benefits.
The IRS does give illegal aliens Taxpayer Identifican Numbers (TINs) so that they can file taxes on their illicit earnings. Some banks accept these TINs in lieu of a Social Security Number to open bank accounts, get mortgages and credit cards. That practice should be illegal but it is not. About 65% of illegals are committing either Identity Fraud by using a fake social security number which is a felony or they are committing Identity Theft by using a stolen social security number which is also a felony. About 35% of illegals work under the table and don't pay taxes which is tax evasion and is also a felony. Illegal aliens are serial criminals.
The illegals that pay social security fraudulently pay about $6 - $8 billion into Social Security. This frequently gets cited as a contribution but people forget that they impose about $16 to $20 billion of costs on the Federal Treasury so their "contribution" is decidedly negative. They also cost taxpayers at the state level tens of billions of dollars for schools, healthcare and justice. They are a huge loser for taxpayers so there is a lot of validity to your complaint that they are sapping money away from the VA System.
The worst cost of illegals is wage suppression at the bottom end of our workforce. This is a huge subsidy for the businesses that hire them who pocket fat profits but for the poorest Americans, typically minorities and recent legal immigrants, it takes about $200 billion annually out of their pockets in the form of lower wages resulting from the overabundance in supply of cheap labor. Never since the depression have we had people standing on street corners seeking low wage jobs.
