Is this blog worthy? oh well in my mind it is...
Just read that HP and the Deathly Hallows will be split into TWO movies. David Yates, the director of Order of the Phoenix and the Half Blood Prince, will direct both.
First off, glad they finally got a director to stay on for more than 2 movies. Maybe now the series will finally have some continuity. In the past few movies, each one has had a different feel to it, and in the case of Prisoner of Azkaban, new sets (which annoyed me to no end).
Second, two parts, eh? I like the idea of it. It will make sure they don't cut out important scenes, which is basically everything in the last book. I get frustrated when movies cut things out from books that would have added so much to the plot and overall meaning of the movie. Another reason, it till prolong the end of Harry Potter premiers. Sure, the books and movies will be around forever, but once the movies are done that anual excitement and anticipation of Harry Potter, whether a book or movies, will disappear.
Part of me thinks this is the producer milking the series for more money (2 box office hits vs. just 1) but overall i think it will be a good thing for the fans. hopefully everything will be included!

there's so much detail in deathly hallows that if any of it gets left out, the story pretty much falls to pieces. or, the movie would be about 4-5 hours longer than the two seperate films put together. itd be nice to have two films because then we have another excuse to stay up until midnight to see the premiere!
That is gonna be fucking awesome!

how/where/when they'll end the first half. and will they be released together?
the second one will be released 6-7 months after the first one. so another downside: we have to wait to see the end! but i have no idea how they're going to split it in half.
Wow wow wow. That's crazy. My initial reaction was 'this sucks!!!' but i guess it makes sense actually. Thank you for writing about this. Definitely blogworthy. Maybe they'll end it when Ron leaves the group and things are looking really bad for Harry and Hermione. Is that halfwayish, or not? I can't remember.
:dances:
I can't wait! I don't care how it gets here, just get here! Split it up, make it one 6 hour movie, I don't care! Just release it, already! I personally love the movies, even though they aren't as good as the books. They are just fun!

I actually liked the movie "Chamber of Secrets" better than the book version. :-P but the rest of the books are better. :-) And the movies are a lot of fun.

Technically each movie had to not include stuff from the books, but I suppose Deathly Hallows is just so big...so involved that it needs to be done this way. Interesting. I've never heard of this being done with a movie this way. I hope they release both halves on the same DVD, and not pull a Sopranos move where half (of a season, in Sopranos case) in one set and half in another.
I'm glad the director is staying too. It was getting a little crazy to see a different feel for the books in each movie. I still wish Chris Columbus had stayed, as well as John Williams for the music portion. Nothing beats the music from the first two movies.

Thank god they plan to split the movie in half. Now it won't be as messed up as the first 3 harry potter movies. I absolutely hate when they cut out important info in book inspired movies. Or take to much creative License with the story and completly alter it from the way it is supposed to be ( MTV studios did this with Blood and Chocolate. it was a ok book transformed into a subpar , crappy movie.)
However, despite what directors plan to do with the 7th movie there will still be mass confusion for the audience. THe way J.K wrote the books is that every little detail has an important role. whether it be in the book from which it was mentined or in an up comming book. There is no such thing as useless info in her books. Unfortunately the last movies cut out some rather important details that would help the part of the audience that has not read the books better understand the main plot and all the other subplots. for example what became of Hermione's S.P.E.W campaign. That was an important part of the fourth book/movie. showing love for house elfs and all other magical creatures is very big in the seventh book/movie. Hermione's concern for sirius's mistreatment of his own house elf plays into how sirius dies in the 5th book/movie. this is also crucial for the 7th book/movie.
2) Hermione and Ron are supposed to end up together. Yet in thefirst 2 movies it makes it seem as if Hermione and Harry have deeper feelings for each other.
Where the H@# was peeves in the 5th movie. The departure of the Weasly twins was the climax of that chapter in the book, along with the fact that they told peeves to give umbridges hell. that was probably the most long awaited quote ever. yet the director looked over it. All the other HP directors completely ommited peevs from the movies. why?
3) why hasn't anyone mentioned Harry's eyes?
4) why hasn't Bill and Charlie ( Rons other older borthers) made an apperance?
it's just litte things like this that really tic me and other fans off.
unless directors purposefully omit these details as away to get the rest of the audience to go out and buy/read the book . : /
I'm gonna try to come up with some answers for you, if that's okay.
1. SPEW wasn't mentioned AND Winky didn't exist either. Since she was the one framed for putting up the Dark Mark at the Quidditch Cup, she should've made an appearance.
2. This bothered me too. I mean, it's cute, but it's not played this way in the books. Hermione doesn' t have a crush on Harry. Harry doesn't have a crush on Hermione. That's just how it is.
3. Peeves. If he'd been mentioned in the first movie (and if the Bloody Baron was the correct character) then Peeves would've come for his important roles later on. Since he didn't get his intro, he doesn't get anything.
4. Harry's eyes. I don't think anyone's mentioned the eyes because the actor has blue eyes.
5. Bill and Charlie. I don't know...
Unfortunately, movies cannot cover what books do. They can't be 6 hours long for one sitting, so directors/screenplay writers makes cuts where they can. That's usually why the book is better than the movie.
And...if some HP movie fan is confused, they should read the books! Nuff said on that front, I believe.
