What is This World That We Live In?

I very often wonder what kind of world we are living in. What kind of world are we living in?

A world where your neighbor doesn't know you and your teachers at school don't care. I feel like we live in a world of unfamiliarity and anger. So many people feel depressed and lost and alone. Why? I will tell you why. Because not enough people are there to help. Not enough people are saying, "Here I am to help you. Let me take some of your burden. Let me help you." I know that not everyone can be that person that is able to help someone else. We all have problems to take care of. I have a life full of hard work and strife. But I am willing to take the time I do have for other things and help. I am willing to share my compassion with others and to try to lift there burden. I know that others have the time and resources to help. There are billions of people in this world. Why aren't more people being helped? Is it becuase of laziness. Is that this world's problem? I pray to God that it is not. But the other answer would be that it is becuase there are too many problems. Everyone is hurting. I don't find that to be true. Yes, everyone may be hurting. But not so badly that they cannot spend 5 minutes of their lives helping someone. You have time. Use it! Help someone.

There are times I don't think that I would be able to make it on my own. That the pressure of everything is going to crush me into the ground where I will never be able to get back up. Those times pass. And they always pass more easily when someone was there to say, "Hey Amanda! Do you need someone to talk to? You look a little down. What's been going on?" Just that simply. I don't even need to talk about it sometimes. I just need someone to notice that I'm not doing ok. I just need to know that if I did need to talk about it someone cares enough to listen. This world needs more people willing to listen and care. Because we cannot always do it on our own.

Look around you and notice the people who are hurting. Look around you and notice that someone is not ok. All you have to do is ask. Offer your help. That simple offer, whether accepted or not, helps.

You cannot  know what is going on in someone's life. You may not be able to tell what is bothering them. But if you see that something is not ok speak up. Be there to help. Because compassion is what this world needs. You can make a difference in someone's life by just listening. A simple act of friendship.

You may be making all the difference in someones life at that time. It could be a child who is depressed and cutting themselves because they don't think they matter to anyone. Because they have to reassure themselves that they are alive because no one else seems to notice. And by asking them if they need your help you just showed them that you care enough to help. That you see them and know they are alive. You can help them. Show them that they are loved. Even if you don't know them  that well. Even if you are a stranger. Kindess doesn't need to be friends. Kindness makes friends.

This is my plea for help. I am screaming for help. Not for the same reasons as the abuse victim, or the lonely child, or the depressed adolecent, though. Not becuase I need help for me. Because I need help for everyone else. I am begging you to make a difference in someone's life. Help someone. Make someone else's burden lighter. And your burden may also be liften or lightened.

agreed. it seems to be the core reason for soo much of the confusion and hate we see in the world. the problem is that nobody listens to each other. it's also that when we try to reach out to people you'll always seem to get this "yeah but" reaction. strong communication is key, and sadly sooo many people lack in that area.
