Just been doing a little thinking

You know, I was thinking. In Canada there's free health care (I'm not counting the raised taxes), in almost all of Euope there's free heath care, in New Zealand and Australia there's free health care. Why, then, do we not have free health care in this country rumered to be the greatest nation in the world. I've spoken with people from these free health countries and they just can't understand how our government can let it's citizens go without health care. The medical industry in this country is a travesty. It's based around the best way to turn a profit rather than how best to
help th patients, rich and poor. I for one would not mind one bit paying higher taxes if I knew it meant that every one in this country would have all medical expenses covered. We already pay enough for welfare, and that doesn't even work. It's taken advantage of to absurdity and re-enforces bad behavior. Yet a decent healthinsurance policy for all us citizens is out of the question? Come on. The corruption, greed, and selfishness found in this country put a real dark shadow over this once great land.

Try to tell the current administration or the majority of Americans that increased taxes is good and see the response you'll get. I agree with you, we should have government health care, but I disagree with the term free health care, because of the inherent cost in terms of taxes.

But it'd probably be cheaper then paying for your own, for the people who r on welfare and the ppl on neither who do hillburten forms or whatever they r and however they work. Maybe if we just promoted it differently it'd work great :D
We pay taxes on everything, we pay to work, pay to get our money, pay to spend our money, pay to keep our money.

I personally have many idea's on this, but u would all think i'm insane . . . so i'll be quiet now.

What you aren't hearing about these "progressive" countries with so-called "free healthcare" and other social programs is that their economies are tanking; they can't pay for it all. Sweden, for example, is often touted as a shining example of "socialism that works." Of course, this is so wrong as to be laughable.

Socialized healthcare is a nightmare; quality decreases, costs increase, and the programs eventually bloat beyond manageability. Ask any healthcare professional in the U.S. as to why healthcare costs are so high, and he'll tell you that it's the government programs.

Socialized healthcare for America is an awful idea. In England it can take weeks to see a doctor. My boyfriend's grandfather had to wait over 2 months to have a surgery for an aneruism. Then he had to wait to make sure a bed was available in the hospital. During this wait, he could have died, died waiting for a hospital bed to be open. Luckily he didn't die and his surgery went well, but in America he would have had his surgery immediately. There is no reason for America to change the healthcare system.

Is it true that it takes longer to get into hospitals in countries with socialized health care? And is the quality of care worse? I need answers to these questions. I have seen statistics saying that countries with socialized health care have smaller cancer rates and other disease rates. To me, this implies that the care is better and that people get in with ample time. I don't know though. And I really want to know. This is one of America's biggest issues right now.
