I am about to be a senior in college with another year due to sports. I should be happy right but I have no money to finish.
I came to college on a partial athletic scholarship with other private scholarships as will. My mom couldn't afford to help. She is a single mom with three kids and on disability so I had to do what I had to do to get to college. I received a full the following year. Who cares about that $3,000 loan I took out to pay the rest? Many, many people have more. Plus I am playing D1 softball. I can pay that off.
I finished my freshman year with a conference ring ,sportsmanship award, rookie of the year, top 6 in batting, and a trip to the Regional’s. Not to mention a full scholarship waiting for me for the next year. Now, why am I upset your probably wondering? I am a senior with no money and I am an out-of-state student at that.
Well I got my sophomore and Junior year paid for. After,the season was over for us…. (junior year)… right after we lost in the 2 round of the conference championship. I was told due to a budget cut of the school and of course of the athletic department. I have to get cut to $2,000 a semester. What??? My coach wants me to continue to play for $2,000. WOW, but it wasn't just me it was 8 people on my team out of 16. My sisters (juniors) 4 of us got cut out of 7. Now only six of us were on athletic scholarship...the other one was on full academic. Smart Girl, REALLY! How could she do this to us? Her now “seniors” that she has known for the past three years? I understood the first one but the second one was completely ridiculous. YES, it was not over. About a week or so goes by and she calls me and tells me I have some MORE bad news for you. I am thinking o sh#*! And yes she said she had to cut me completely. How could she do this to me AGAIN? I am about to be a senior. Her true colors really did show because she tired this last year with one of the girls but she did release her and plus she needed her because her "so called recruits didn't come. Maybe I'll get lucky.. :) I wasn't the only one to get cut completely, it was one other player....my senior sister. I asked for my release so I am not playing softball for her but I'll still have one year left to play.
What other options do I have, Loan? Yeah right. Fastweb!! Or better yet move back home but I go to school in Florida. I have established a life and a 2 year relationship. Out-of-state is about 22, 000 a year. My mom couldn't even send me to college, yet along pay for my last 2 year in school. I NEED, I NEED CASH!!!
To Go back home or go back to school in Florida?
