Senator Obama on The Daily Show

Sen. Barack Obama was on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night.  His wittiness matched Stewart's and the interview ended with a  question from Stewart that went "How do you handle all this hype -many people see you as the vanguard or future of your party"  Obama's response was, "The only person more overhyped than me, is you."  This had Stewart beguiled and laughing hard ergo cementing Obama's image as a brillantly chiseled politician, yet a pragmatic neighborly guy with a sense of humor.  Unfortunately he was broadcasted via satelite, maybe next time he can make it to the studio...but by then he may be residing in the White House.

This came just a night before Democrats flexed their muscle and paved the way for success in the 2006 elections.  Senator Jon Corzine won the gubernatorial race in New Jersey.  Also, fellow Democrat Tim Kaine won the governor's mansion from his friend Mark Warner.  Warner, the former Democratic governor of Virginia was term limited and is now a hopeful candidate for President in 2008.  Virginia is also key because President Bush was involved heavily in the backing of the Republican candidate for governor, Jerry Kilgore.  Finally, Democrats won elections for school board in Dover, Pennsylvannia, where Intelligent Design was being threatened to enter the curiculum of this district.  Was this a sign of Bush's and the GOP's slipping popularity, or a sign of a resurgence by the Democratic Party...time will tell.

I witnessed the exchange ... witty is an understatement ... a fair degree of content too ... I can't wait until a Colbert-Obama exchange ... makes staying up that late worthwhile. I may have witnessed a phase in the evolution of a Presidential candidate .

You mean that we might end up with a president who knows stuff? *gasp*

It's been a few wars since we've had one of those. Go Obama ^_^
