To me, there’s a difference between ‘ignorance’ and ‘stupidity’. Humor me for a moment, please.
Ignorance is the lack of knowing something. Ignorance stems from a lack of knowledge, be it on purpose or not. The fact that the learning isn’t within the being could stem from a number of reasons: lack of education, perhaps the subject hasn’t “stuck” inside the being’s mind… I am ignorant when it comes to Calculus.
Stupidity, on the other hand, is the conscious denial of something that is quite obvious. Usually, stupidity is something used by people to convince someone of a thing that isn’t true. This person is usually so wrapped up in their lie, so consumed by it, that, in their heads, it becomes the truth. Look at that kid, he’s so stupid. We all know he wasn’t in class, but he’s trying to argue that he was.
I believe that it is possible to be both ignorant and stupid. Hitler, for example. I believe that he was ignorant when it came to Jewish culture, and stupid for prosecuting that which he did not understand.
I believe that every person has been and is currently both ignorant and stupid about something in his or her life. I believe that ignorance and stupidity have a fine line that divides them, and each person crosses that line many times each day, even though they may not know it.
I believe that there is not one set definition of either term. I believe that every person has his or her own thoughts on what makes which one. I believe that some people may think my terms totally backwards, and others may not even see anything similar to theirs and mine.
I believe that some people will find me absolutely insane, and others will agree completely with me. Qué será, será. What will be, will be.
Humanity has the power to change itself. We as a whole, could prevent the wrongs of the future. We can never take back the pain of the past. It’s something we learn from, just as a child learns to not touch a stove because it hurts. Humanity has the power to learn from our ignorance and shed our stupidity.
The question is, do we want to? Or, more importantly… Are we ready to?

I think of stupidity more as just unintelligence. You're either born stupid, or your not. Not a very PC thing to say, but it's what I think. My thoughts on ignorence are about the same as yours, as it is something that is controlled by one's environment.
PS No habla espanol. (sp?)

and the ~ over the 'n' is hard to get, unless you know how. ñ)
Please dont speak spanish, i dont want to seem like the minority
I think it is pnysically and mentally impossible to change because so many people are stuck in there own lies about how the think the world really is that they can't and won't change because they're to ignorant or stubborn to.
Erm, could you please explain to me why I should not speak Spanish in my own blog? Especially when it is my first language (although I basically forced myself to forget it upon learning English, and am currently relearning it)? I don't quite understand your reasoning about "seem[ing] like the minority".
The irony of that statement is absolutely delicious! I'm going to print this one for later use, when I have to illustrate irony for middle schoolers. It is the perfect example. Made my night!

Double clicked again, so I'm making this say something different than what is posted above it.
But I fived your post. Great one! A novel question, and a clear examination of the issue.
And, so I don't have to post another comment, I am ignorant about economics, and I am stupid about money.

Gracias. :)
(And me = Mathmatically stupid. I will bend the laws of physics to make my answer right when it isn't. My former teacher actually applauded me on that once.)
