This being my first blog, I will introduce myself as the bold, strong-headed, opinionated geek that I am. I am one who enjoys politics, but most people my age, for the most part, are uninformed. This being said, I can't hold a decent conversation about politics without hearing "No you're wrong 'cause your candidate is stoopid." Yes. "Stoopid"
One of the issues that always comes up is Abortion. (sweet Vindeasle Jesus [long story] She said the "A word" *gasp*) I live in a highly traditionalist community (very conservative minus the college campus) Anyway. Abortion. There are these people who stand outside of Planned Parenthood, and they set up a camera to get pictures of the license plates. Intimidation factor. One question; Don't they have something better to do with there time rather than stand outside the elegant Gothic black fencing filming people who might just want to find out about adoption? Not to mention those who need someone to talk to about birth control. I mean, come on! What about those girls who are raped at the age of thirteen? What if she gets pregnant? Huh? What if she is terrified of the uber Christians? Is she doomed to become a mom at the age of 13-14? I mean really. She's already suffered being raped. Let alone being too intimidated to talk to someone. Alas, I've gotten off on a rant.
I saw a comic once. It was tacked on the bulletin board of my History teachers room. The first panel of the comic shows a man; average Joe, and the caption says "This man chose not to be a father. He's a deadbeat worthless father" The next panel showed a woman, roughly the same age. The caption there says "This woman chose not to be a mother. She's pro-choice." I know this is on the other side of the spectrum, but it's your choice. I personally will not get into a conversation without knowing both sides.
My plan of action is as follows: I am currently forming a group of pro-choice people. As time passes, we will grow "stronger" if you will, and eventually protest the protesting people. That is the beauty of this country. We can block the lens, and stand infront of the camera. We can welcome girls and women alike into the parking lot rather than making them feel shameful. Ah, here I go again.
Now my question to you, Where do you stand?

Personally, i disagree with abortion, from a religious perspective. But women should have the choice to go through or not go through the procedure of abortion. As you've mentioned Luca: what about if a women or even a teenage girl is raped?
I don't think anyone truly ever wants to be in a situation where they consider abortion. I don't understand why these people cannot show a bit more compassion. It's not right for a group to intimidate someone because they don't agree with a choice they're making.
I, almost, second the first opinion. I don't like abortion (for non-religious reasons). I do think that, up to a point, it should be allowed. I am opposed to late-term abortions, though, unless there are serious, and I mean serious health problems.

I too disagree with Late term abortion. My thoughts though, as I said, are that no one has the right to intimidate someone for making a choice of there own.
