Throughout History there has been a great enthusiasm for technological improvements of any kind. Computers, no doubt, make many many things so much easier to accomplish or store, however what about aim and all these different messaging systems? It's a nifty way to be able to talk to alot of people at the same time, but doesn't it erase the intimacy that so many other generations once had? Now a tension between people is more evident in public. Many individuals find it more difficult to continue keeping up good conversations with others, myself included sometimes. Personally, I find it almost surreal. It is sometimes alot easier to say things online because you are almost hiding behind a mask. You could always deny that it was you on your computer, and stake the blame on a sibling. Relationships are reduced to mere letters, and emotions are often confused since facial expressions are not available to rely on. Is technology really improving in this respect? What about Myspace and Facebook and livejournal? Occasionally you will hear about a foolish girl that met a guy online and decided to meet him in person. From there you know the story, things go wrong.
Does this social technology help or does it hinder sociality?
