Why I Wear Makeup

Stereotyping and reading covers is really unreliable. I wear makeup. Everyday. I wear it not because I want to impress anybody or make anyone jealous or show off. I wear it because I like the way it makes me look. I feel more confident with it. People think girls wear makeup to impress boys. For me, it makes me feel good to know I look good to myself, and I don’t care what anybody else thinks.
This blog is not a defense of makeup. It is rather an eye-opener to show that stereotypes are false truth. Some stereotypes, such as “Jews are wealthy” get too far, as in what occurred to be the Holocaust.
I want to be progressive. I really do. Maybe I don’t have the greatest hope that this website could make some change, but with my schedule I feel at least I’m trying. All I want to get across is that you should get to know people personally before you judge them.
Another example of stereotypes is that of prostitutes. I can tell you something that you may not really agree with. Some prostitutes were brought over from other countries by force and are threatened into that field, do not speak the common language, and fear their lives to escape. I know this because a close friend of mine knows a lot of prostitutes in that situation. It’s called human trafficking.

I am the same way about the make up thing, but it is kind of because of the push that society or just the public has on me. I was going fishing, and saw someone at the gas station, and told them where I was going. There reaction was, you cant go fishing with make up on. A woman quickly walked by and said sure you can, it will attract all the male fish. I was going with my boyfriend. I dont wear it to attract guys. I just wear it simply b/c I live in a small town and most people see me on a regular basis. If they have always seen me in make up, I dont want them to one day see me without it and be like, gosh she looks terrible today. I want people to think that I am well put together, and have a positive image for myself. I know that that isnt totally a physical apperance thing, and should be judged on character, but many times, people do make judgement on a person based on their looks. I guess I just want to be covered either way.

And this is not to say that I disagree with your approach to makeup. This is just what works for my life. I only wear makeup on special occasions, like going out dancing, holidays, job interviews, field work (in schools), and Pride events (because that's when everyone runs into their exes, so you HAVE to look good). I figure, if I don't set up the expectation, then when I DO get dolled up, everyone notices that I look good. In fact, people often say, "Damn! You clean up well!" (Except they usually don't have such good grammar, but I can't bring myself to type "you clean up good").

I know the people who liked me before I wore makeup and after. I got used to wearing it that if i don't put it on, i feel the same way you do. People are going to see me different. But then again, i love to impress myself.

I wear make up sometimes. I am lazy so when I feel like it. I find that I can look pretty without make up though. I have learned to love myself and feel pretty without having to put on make up. I know people are quick to judge and it is very sad. I wear it like you do to make myself feel better. It does wonders when your face is reddish and you look tired lol. you have a good point though. I don't wear makeup around my boyfriend and he loves it.

Thats great that he loves you for who you are. My friend's have boyfriends like that too. Actually when I met my first crush, it was when I never used makeup, and he liked me that way. But I guess i'm so used to it now.

I used to wear makeup
I do LOVE makeup

but I don't wear any, primarily because of the work I do and I want people to see me for WHO I AM.

Sometimes I will only wear eyeliner and foundation and thats about it

I wear makeup a lot because I prefer not to look all red. I have food allergies, so I'm frequently red and puffy looking without it.
