Who do you belive in a situation like this?
One of my friends was recently arrested....for a drive by shooting. Now you have to understand he has never seemed to be the type of person to ever do a thing like this. However one day he asked if i could give him a ride to his house. I said sure, being that i was going to see a firiend who lived a mile away from him. Joking around, because he speeds alot, asked if he lost his car becuase of his speeding. He looked at me and sadly said no. I couldn't imagne why else he would have lost his car, he did drugs at one time, but i was pretty sure he stoped, and even if he didn't it was only weed, they wouldn't impound his car for that, would they? i had a million thoughts going through my head when he asked if I could keep a secret I said sure.
He told me about how he and some friends were riding around and one of them brought a gun in his car, he says he knew nothing about it. Since I used to ride around with a guy that carried a pistol with him everywhere he went (he had papers with it and was only because he had been jumped by a group of guys twice) I knew there were many times that he had one and could have eailsy carried one with out my friend knowing. I figured the other guy didn't have papers. My friend then told me about how he rolled down his window and started shooting at a house and how he went and turned them in. However he made front page of the paper and it reads differently.
Things that don't make since to me is why it he would have been out on occurred at 1 a.m. May 7 (according to the newspaper) and also how he wouldn't notice a shotgun being brought into his car. I know papers make mistakes but mistaking the kind of gun seems a little off.
However they both agree that my friend confessed the whole story and he is being charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling.
So I am between a rock and hard place and don't know what to do. I really need advice, so if you would please help me that would be great!

Does your friend have a history of lying? If so, I might be a bit more cautious if I were you, if not--then be a friend. Don't put yourself in any danger, but make sure that you are there as a sounding board, shoulder to lean on and support system.

he's never really lied to me, that i know of, but he has went to jail before, mostly for speeding (like 100 in a55) but i don't know who to belive
