So, you might not be willing to buy Eco-friendly paint; but, there are a lot of other options to save energy and help out the environment. By switching to fluorescent light bulbs you will be using 2/3 less energy. The light bulbs also produce less heat, which means your air conditioning runs less.

At a camp I went to the other week, I learned that every pound of food wasted is a gallon of gas wasted. We take little into consideration when we buy food that we do not eat. That food has to be grown, harvested, packaged, and then transported to our local food store. That takes a lot of energy!

Now, you must be thinking, “surely I can’t possible do anything to help the environment.” But, that’s not true. Just by switching all of the light bulbs in my room to the new fluorescent is a little step. I also turn my computer off, when I am not using it. Also, I unplug things that I do not use; like blow driers, portable heaters, cell phone charger, and etc.

I recycle, but not in a conventional way. For instance, I have a small garden over the summer. Before I plant everything I mix in paper from the shredder. This holds moister in the soil, especially when there’s a dry spell. Paper eventually deteriorates into the ground, and the worms eat it too!

Doing a little to keep the environment cleaner is not only satisfying but it also saves money. So, all in all, try little ways to be eco-friendly.

By the way, I’m not all organic or anything. I’m not an environment activist, I’m just trying little things to help out, and it’s not as hard as you may think. A great looking website is: www.lowimpactliving.com

I love readng blogs about global warming because there are some many options and cthings that we cacn do but we just can't be lazy and just alter our lives a little and adjust. This is one of the only topics where you hear new things all the time. I wish other people wouldn't make anymore excuses . . .

I've never heard of the paper in plants thing before. I'll have to try it out next time I crack open my green thumb.
