When your circumstances change, adapt to it - don't live in the past, don't dwell on what's gone. When someone first thought we could fly or walk on the moon, most people thought they can never happen. But they did. When computers and mobile phones first appeared, some people thought they would have no use for such gadgets. But subsequent acceptance and usage of these items brought about a potential higher quality of life.
When someone suggests something new or presents a point of view contrary to yours, don't shoot it down. Don't close your mind to it. You may have something to learn, something to benefit from, someday."

One of my pet peeves are stuck up people. I know that sometimes, I may unknowingly become my pet peeve, but I don't know! I just can't stand it. I've delt with many forms of closed mindedness: racism, angry religious debates, and just discrimination and stereotyping in general.
Even though I'm a Christian, I don't really confine my thoughts to Christianity. I know things out there. I don't keep myself in this self righteous bubble like I'm better than anyone.
