I feel that it has nothing to do with the government weather someone can marry someone of the same sex. A lot of people that are against gay marriage say that the Bible says "a man and a woman." But I thought that this was America, and we had freedom of religion. So how is it that in America ~ the land of the free ~ only certian people can marry the love of thier life. Others are "partners."
Being married is not just about the whole "joined as one" either. Married couples get tax breakes and all other kinds of benefits. Everyone says that they can still be together, it just can't be legal. I don't see how you can legally outlaw gay marriage.
If everyones consern really is with what the bible says, then there is a simple fix. Gay couples don't have to get married in a church. There are plenty of other placed to get married. But there should be somewhere where they CAN get married. They have the right, as American citizens, to get married to whomever they wish. No one should be able to take that from them!

this subject really upsets me. the way that i see it, marriage is about being in love and wanting to spend the rest of your lives together. So why can't gays have the same privelages? 10% of the population is gay, it is a minority, and if we cant be married that should apply to all minorities. in my eyes this is the most unfair debate and it really hurts to hear what people have to say about gays. We are no different from anybody else, we love just the same. pikeoutkast you have made some very strong points in your blog. mind me asking if your part of that 10%?
