My Opinion on John McCain

So Far I have been very interested in the primary elections. The whole time I have been supporting John McCain, and believe he should be our next President. So here's what I think about him:

1. He is a Republican but can understand the Democrats. He has been criticized by Republicans for being too liberal, but that could be to his advantage. If he understand both parties then he is able to understand the majority of people in the country and then make a decision he thinks is best for everyone.

2. He has extensive national security experience. At this time we are in the middle of a war. I by no means am supporting it, but at the same time we have soldiers over there who need our support. I feel that of all the candidates John McCain has the most experience and knowledge in this area. He served in the US Navy for 22 years and since then has been involved in almost every national security issue.

3, McCain can help our government end useless spending. In 2002 he helped pass the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act, also know as McCain Feingold Act, which placed restrictions on campaign funds. He is opposes earmarks, and Congress spending unnecessary money.

4. I think for McCain to actually win, he needs to chose a conservative Vice President to bring in the conservative republicans. Personally I think he should chose Mike Huckabee. They would make a good pair and it would help McCain win conservative votes.

That's how I feel about Senator John McCain. It doesn't matter who you support, just remember to get out in November.

Don't all Republicans think they can get along with democrats? how often does it happen though? President Bush has ruined Republicans "bipartisan"message!

Yes, I really do understand what you are saying. But I'm just saying that he can get along with democrats, I'm saying he has some of the same ideas. John McCain's views on a variety of issues are not the same as republicans and are closer to the democrats. If his personal views are mix between democrats and republicans, then wouldn't he understand both parties, and be able to understand the majority of Americans?

Yep, it was interesting to see him campaign with Lieberman during the Michigan primaries. That should really scare the bajesus out of progressives-- two hawks in the white house together. It certainly has the same ring as the last 8 years. The video on YouTube showing McCain touting the phrase "100 more years" and "Bomb Bomb Bomb, Bomb Bomb Iran" should frighten most people.

That being said, he is a survivor. He finished at the bottom of his class at the military university, and yet he has a swell IQ. Everything's inconsistent about this guy.

THank you for yer post's last sentence.

If John McCain wants to cut useless federal spending, then maybe he should change his current stace on the War in Iraq. He wants to keep American troops there indefinitely, until the country is "secure" and terror-free, driving America further into debt.
