Ashamed to be female

I can say that in today and yesterday’s society I am ashamed to be a female. I can’t be proud of a gender that is marketed. All though society and history women have been and still are commodities. We were born to be boys, raids to bed property, and bought to be wives. Do not get me wrong society is taking steps but until that leap is taken, I will be ashamed to be a female.

This embarrassment stems from the lack of equality in this nation. Does having a phallus, penis, cock, dick, or wee wee make you supreme? Does an assertive member make you king? I think not. I do not see why females of the past went along with the mentality. I cannot stand (sit) here and not be ashamed of what females have become.

All over mass media, we see female empowerment. These include a female candidate for president, women senators and governors, and women CEOs and but those are the handful. The rest of women are slaving in the kitchen, doing the laundry, taking care of the children as in the olden times. Until cultures stop the oppression of women, I cannot be proud of my gender. Equality in all fields must be reached. Women should not be marketed.

i understand what you are saying and where its coming from but if women do not repect themselves and are not proud to be women....then who will? Apparently not enough men,

Show you are proud and actually work toward change. That is the only way women are going to be equalized in this society.

I'm not sure how you can say you aren't proud to be a woman.

I'm proud that women are breaking the molds along with the glass ceiling. I'm proud that we have come so far that we can be successful women while raising a stable family. I'm proud that we are running for President, running companies, and not taking anymore crap.

Also, being a housewife isn't something to be ashamed of. I don't like seeing women whose only interest is their family, but sometimes things just fall into place like that and it's better for the mother to stay home. Often times, it's the woman who CHOSES to stay home and take care of her family. Being a stay at home mom is one of the hardest jobs a woman can have and along with another job, it can be even more difficult. Women are generally the ones who assume the roll of taking care of the house and the children and there is nothing wrong with that. Don't be ashamed of the stay at home moms, be ashamed of the women who take their clothes off in music videos and allow men to call them "bitches & hoes etc."

The select few can ruin the image of women everywhere.
What I have in my blog is just a slice of what makes me ashamed to be female. Don't get me wrong I am proud of the change that is happening but the things that are staying the same grinds my gears.

It isn't all on the women for what women are seen as. If you continue to be ashamed of your gender, then nothing will change. You need to stand up and be proud of your gender and show yourself as an equal. Alice Paul wasn't ashamed of her gender, and she accomplished something great for it. Ashamed? You can do nothing with that. Be ashamed of society, but not of your gender. That is stooping to their level.

I am ashamed of you.

Maybe you should be asking yourself instead, why is womens work not celebrated? The women slaving in the kitchen and devoting decades of their lives to raising children to become adults should be looked at as the heroes they are.

It is misogynistic patriarchy that relegates these roles to second-class status, and the roles of CEO's and politicians to the highest honors. I dream of a day when men and women equally can be looked upon with honor, respect and admiration for assuming nurturing roles.
