Inmates vs. Animals: U.S. Fails the Test of Civilization

When you look at cases like the political prisoner case of the Angola 3, you realize that the U.S. is not the completely humane country it makes itself out to be, but rather a corporate machine with a loooong political agenda.

"Unlike prisoners of ancient Rome, convicts at the annual Angola and Oklahoma State rodeos aren't physically forced to compete in the games, or even executed after their performance. Instead, they're paid handsomely -- upwards of $200 for winning "Convict Poker," or $100 for successfully grabbing the chip in "Money the Hard Way." A tour guide clarifies the basic economics: "Since $100 is worth about four months' pay to these hardened criminals, be ready for one hell of a scrap for that c-note.""--By Ben Zipperer, AlterNet. Posted April 18, 2007.

Just remember what those criminals are doing inside of prison in the first place. You would be surprised if you did any research on the prison systems of other countries. We aren't completely humane--but we are the MOST humane. Check your facts first.

wasn't focused on other countries, genius. It was about injustice in the U.S. You must also keep in mind that the link you've posted include countires with varying types of governments.

When I said that we were the MOST humane, I was comparing us with different countries. Genuis.

I have never heard such unintelligent banter about something that has great potential for intelligent banter...

...and apparently someone thought their comment poignant enough to post it twice...I think maybe you apply to your own signature, my friend.
