Myspace, Anyone?

Let me start off by saying that I am not a professional and this article is not supposed to be professional. Let me also say that there are thousands and millions of unhealthy things a person can do.

We could think of many of these said unhealthy things. We won't. That's because there's only one that I feel like talking about. Remember, I am not a professional. I can, therefore, use any tone I'd like to.

I'll admit that I'm a computer person because I do a lot of stuff on the computer. I'm actually on quite often. I'm either listening to music on my iTunes, working on my website, playing a game, or talking on AIM. I occasionally sign onto MySpace.com.

Now, I'll admit that I got hooked on it for the first few months. I just liked being on. The fad faded away shortly thereafter.

But what is with MySpace today?

What percentage of teenagers go on MySpace? What percent of college students do? Even moreso, how many people waste over 50% of their day on this site? Who isn't doing what they're supposed to while they're on this site?

It wouldn't be bad if MySpace didn't seem like a spreading virus. How many of you see people on all day? You know what they do, of course.

25% post bulletins complaining about their lives or saying their bored to get attention.
25% comment and message all day.
25% think they're best friends are the people they just started talking to.
25% don't actually do anything.

It all amounts to one big percentile of people doing nothing. It brings people closer, huh? I think it teaches everyone to do things through the computer. People actually stay at home to talk on MySpace. It's their hobby, it's their culture. Now what does this really mean?

We've got an age of people that don't do anything but learn how to seclude themselves from reality. Many find it easier to just talk through a message than pick up a phone or hang out with a friend in person.

I see this as a problem. Who's making their community better? Who's fighting for their rights? Who's making a difference? The smarter question: "Who isn't on MySpace doing nothing?"

Now, believe me, I could run on and on about this. I may sound like I'm attacking the subject, but it should be attacked. It's a time waster for people with too much time. It works so well that it's scary. MySpace shouldn't be shut down or anything like that. I'm not saying that.

I'm saying that people have issues and addictions. It's unhealthy. It's terrible for them.

And it won't stop anytime soon, sadly.

So, for those of you that don't waste your lives away and those that actually make lives better....I salute you. I admire you. I support you.

The thing that bothers me most with Myspace is the fact that it is just a cesspool for gossip and hatred.

There is always someone at school saying, "Did you SEE what she put on her Myspace?"

It inspires so much drama, gossip and many other things that are present in high school without having the add-on of Myspace.

It started off being a way to get in touch with friends, but seems to have turned into a way to make fun of enemies.
