I couldn't handle the truth.

My perspective is changing about the recent raid in Texas on a religious sect after a young girl may have reported being abused. Now that the mothers of the children who have been taken away by Child Protective Services have spoken out and voiced their side of the story, I am reminded that we as readers rarely get the whole truth. When I first heard about the raid on the fundamentalist Mormonish compound, I assumed the story of the young girl being raped was true. The moms suspect it was a prank call and all this drama about child abuse is just ripping their community apart. They have stories that their children are not being properly taken care of by CPS. So what are we to believe?

My response is to back off. I don't have all the information that the people handling the case have. It's nice that reporters have gone in to give the community members a voice, but they each have a bias too. The reporters want a juicy story. They community moms want their kids back. One mother went so far to acknowledge that many of the CPS workers were doing a good job and that she forgives those who have torn her family apart. Maybe they are right and no abuse occurred. Maybe they are just saying anything to get their kids back. Maybe officials are taking the opportunity to break the sect up. Who knows? It's not for me to decide at least.

I'm just going to trust that the decision makers involved do so with the most information and the least bias. I'll be optimistic. No one is going to have the whole truth, but hopefully they can come pretty close with enough effort. That's their job anyway. And it's not mine. I'm not entitled to know exactly what's going on in this situation or most situations for that matter. I probably couldn't even handle the truth if it was right in front of my face.

This is going to change how I blog. I'm going to work on having more information and being less biased. We'll see how it goes.

How people can lie about things and how the media twists stuff around. That is why when Health Ledger died I was confused. I can draw my own conclusion from it.

Many people do not want to take the time to draw their own logical conclusion. Sometimes it is bad to do this but sometimes you have to! This is how they solve crime cases by drawing conclusions by all the evidence they have.

That is great you are going to get more information and be less biased. It is just really sad how in some cases we can not always find alot of information. I try to stay really open minded on both sides because it could sway a whole different direction!

Good blog once again...

It's a yet another daily awareness we must have so that we don't get into sticky situations that aren't necessary. There's no need for people to be arguing about whether or not these moms are lying. Only they truly know.
