Upon surfing the net, I came across an article that associated those who have Asperger's Syndrome (form of autism) with nerds. I knew I shouldn't have clicked on it. I knew I would be offended. I clicked on it regardless.

Upon reading the article, it seemed they were dead on at least with nerds. Then they had to bring up Aspies and I flipped a lid. One description they gave was "...tendency to masturbate while watching Star Wars and Molly Ringwald movies."
That was just plain uncalled for. There were other little tidbits against Aspies that it makes it seem like the author has personal issues with some of them. This article is coming from some radio show, so all I can think of is how unprofessional these people are.
Such broad statements (all [blank] do this) are humiliating and dispicable. Out of all the descriptions, the only one I personally follow is that I enjoy videogames... but so do 75% of all the other teenagers I know.
I do not care for Star Wars, and I despise Molly Ringwald and her movies. I in fact find Molly Ringwald revolting.
I don't have taped glasses, I'm horrible at Math and Science, I don't wear suspenders, nor tuck my shirt in, I hate role-playing games, and I am not an anime fanatic, which includes all card-games that come along with it.
In every way, I am NOT a nerd. Yes, I do obsess over unusual hobbies... but that hobby has no relevance to nerds. That hobby is writing. I write like there's no tomorrow. I enjoy getting what's on my mind out in the open, may that be on paper or computer.
I swear to God, there are such ignorant people in this world. Ignorant and arrogant. If I was to ever meet that asshole author, I wouldn't hesitate to shove an egg-beater in his eye socket.
I do not have a disability... I have a condition. I am not disabled from anything, I just do things differently than others.
If I EVER hear someone say something demeaning to Aspies or autistics alike, I will personally go over to their house, and smash their faces in with a fucking cinderblock. This is not a threat... it's a promise. I can't tell you how pissed off I get when Aspies like myself are discriminated... especially when we're in such great company like Einstein, Al Gore, Tim Burton, Bill Gates, etc.
They've done so much for the world (Einstein especially), yet these dumbasses spit in their faces, seemingly utterly ungreatful. I seriously cannot stand the arrogance.

I watch America's Next Top Model and last season a girl with Asperger's syndrome and she got the top 4 or 5 I believe. She was a little differently socially yes, but she was no different than any of us and I thought it was great that she was on that show. I wish people weren't so ignorant either, it makes me sad and ticked off.

Check out my latest blog! :]
Yes, I've heard of that. I agree, I really think it is great they had an Aspie in the show. Exactly, they can be a tad different than others at times. It all depends on the situation. However, their only significant difference is that they think differently. They have a different flow of thought and logic. Yes, they have a tendency to lack empathy at times, but there are other "normal" people who share this tendency as well. It is NOT a disability. It is a condition, nothing more.
It's funny how everybody needs to have a label....I just hate the fact that everyone needs to be placed in a box unless they fit society's standards of normality.
Normality? There is no normal, as far as people go. The fact I'm labeled as an Aspie gives me a sense of pride since it says I'm only further from normal than others. The world would be a very boring place if everyone were the same.
I know Einstein wasn't because the diagnosis didn't exist then. I 'm a big fan of being careful about labeling people who haven't embraced the label for themselves.
