Curiosity has a hold on me

I've been pondering this over quite a bit lately and still haven't found myself with a distinct yes or no opinion. I tried bringing it up to a few peers, but they became just as perplexed as I have.

Do blind people have dreams?

In one case, no obviously. I mean come on, they are blind and physically unable to see. So why would their dreams be any different?

On the other hand, they can still dream. I'm sure we've all had dreams involving something we've never seen before so we wouldn't have any knowledge of it, if it even exists. So that brings me to the counterpoint, if we can see things in dreams we've never seen before, why can't blind people.

I talk to the two blind girls at my school from time to time because they're some friends' little sisters. And I haven't quite worked up the courage to ask them something like that. If I've already offended some of my friends with this obscure question, why wouldn't they be offended too?

Thats a really good question..have you tried researching it online? it would be a very interesting thing to look into I'm sure. I don't think that you would offend them if you went about it in the right way..but I'm not blind..so i guess i really wouldn't know. This was really good though..it made me think

Blind people do dream, but the extent to what they actually see depends on when in their life they were blinded. For example, someone who was blinded after years of being able to see would have dreams like those who have the gift of sight. Those who have never been able to see experience different perceptions. I'm sorry, I can't remember what those people actually experience when they dream. We just went over this is my psychology class too, I should know it....

I just started psych 100 and was thrilled when one of our questions was "do all people dream", kind of like a pretest to what we'd be learning this semester.
Finally I'll be able to get to the root of this, but thanks for the information
