It's been a while since Janet Jackson made the news by "accidentally" exposing her breast on national television, and the $550,000 fine for the event will stand, despite CBS's protests. Other, similar fines levied by the FCC against different networks have been for such abominations as the "f-word" and the "s-word." Obviously, my use of the word abomination was sarcasm. In the world today we are in the grips of several pandemic and potentially pandemic diseases, including HIV/AIDS and the Avian Flu. There are numerous endemic problems, including diabetes and cancer, that affect numerous people every year.
We are involved in a war in Iraq where our soldiers have been involved in conflict for years, and where civilians and soldiers alike are being slaughtered. People are dying in earthquakes, hurricanes, and tsunamis at increasingly high rates. We are embroiled in controversies over immigration that will affect millions of people, and we are involved in debates over the legitimacy of a program that spies on Americans covertly.
And I've only scratched the surface.
And we have a governmental organization that is fining people for a brief second's view of a breast (not to mention the fact that the target demographic of the superbowl has probably seen such a thing before) or for a curse word. The FCC is behaving absurdly. We have bigger fish to fry in this country.
Now, I realize that there are laws governing these things, and that the FCC is merely following the letter of the law. But, again, there are so many things that are more important in the world today. A curse word isn't going to corrupt anyone. A breast isn't going to corrupt anyone.

That's one expensive boob job. They show man nipples all the time so what's the difference? People are so backward.
