Fix One Problem Cause Another

A restriction on rice? I saw a report on the news today saying that stores was putting a restriction on how much rice you can buy. What?

Have you seen the prices in grocery stores. It is suppose to be an effect of the gas prices and the fact that a lot of the grain crops are being used to produce ethanol for fuel. I am very glad that the government is trying to do something about the country's dependency on foreign oil, but in our efforts to fix one problem we are creating another burden on the American consumer. The price of our food is up, gas prices are starting to equal that of other countries, and our pay check is either the same or we no longer have one due to layoffs, etc.

I honestly don't know if the new President we are going to elect in November can really fix the problems that have been created by President George Bush in the past 8 years. I just pray that it doesn't get worse.

Maybe we could start by bringing home the soliders in Iraq. That would free up BILLIONS of dollars that the government is spending. Next, put some limitations on FREE TRADE. We are losing millions of jobs to other countries who simply work for dirt cheap. We will never be able to compete with that so we have to limit it. Although I think President Bill Clinton was a great President, I think he is responsible for NAFTA and other agreements like it.
WAIT MINUTE! MAYBE I SHOULD RUN FOR PRESIDENT!

In my opinion I believe we are heading down sh*t path to F*ksville. People will not believe me but I see a depression making its way towards us if something is not done soon. Rice shortage is a very bad thing. I read an article where an economist stated " It would be a good idea to stock up on rice and water." I tried to relook for the source on google but could not find it.

This worried me greatly.

Love comments? I do too!

the thing is that the goverment ISN"T doing anything to lessen our increasing dependency on foreign oil. and the reason that oil prices are so high, (and by the summer going to be 4 $ a gallon) ins because of us using our own oil. because were not.

Blaming this on Bush is ridulous. Bush was trying to open up ANWAR. Bush was trying to drill of the gulf coast of Florida.

I don't like Bush at all but he was pushing solutions. These problems fall squarely on Congress and mainly on Democrats in Congress.

I believe that Bush is responsible along with the congress; which by the way has only been Democrat for about a year. This is an effect of an never ending war in Iraq.

That is true, but the government has tried to pressure auto makers to make cars that use less gas like the hybrid, etc.

It's greed.
The Fuel problem is greed.
The Rice problem is most definately greed.
Everyone is two damn greedy.
Money money money.
It's like a looting of the public. (Picturing LA Riots images in my mind)
The smartest thing apparently anyone could do for their wallet is to figure out what people really need to live and work, find a way to provide it at a reasonable cost for a while...then all the sudden...start gouging the hell out of people until you are rich.
It's a brilliant plan isn't it? And who cares if anyone ends up homeless as a result?
money money money.

The problem with rice was caused by the disaster in Myanmar. Rice was their number one crop shipped to the US so the disaster destroyed all of their income. Rice is now limited and many stores have a limit of one bag per customer.
