Senior Year... not so easy, right?

Tagged:  •

All my life, people have been telling me that SENIOR year is the best year in high school. However, I beg to differ. Honestly, for all us overachievers and valdictorian nominees, senior year is absolutely the most stressful year. I haven't had a social life since the middle of junior year when I had to take my first AP's. I go to a school where on average there is at least  5 or more Valdictorians. It has always been my childhood dream to become one and it's within my grasp but with the classes I am taking I am starting to wonder if I'll achieve it. My bed time is well passed midnight now-a-days and I find myself becoming a hermit living in the solitude of my room. It makes me wonder if this is how it'll be in college where I will live a repetitive life of studying, eating, going to class, sleeping, and the cycle starts all over again. Whatever happened to the good old carefree days of elementary school. Those kids don't know how easy their life truly is. Well, I should really start on that Physics AP homework, but this blogging is really helping vent out how I really am feeling. I really wish there was some sort of counseling group for people like me like the do for alcoholics.

Senior year can be the most stressful year (even though they say Jr year is) and time just seems to drag on and on and on.

You sound like an incredibly gifted person who wants nothing but the best for herself. But pleasedon't give in to the pressures of wanting to BE THE BEST. It took me a long time to realize that you don't have to be the BEST to be the best at what you do. Stressing about being the best may cause you to lose sight of your real goals.

Keep striving for the Valedictorian gold-- but make sure to ask yourself why you want that for yourself and how you will use what you've learned next year when you start "real life."

Senior year wasn't that fun for me. Maybe I was the only one in my entire who felt that way. I knew no body from my graduating class because I was supposed to be a junior at that time. Hence, all of my friends who I'd like to spend time with were juniors. It sucked everything out of me. I didn't want to do anything exciting. I just wanted to have a peaceful and quiet last year at the high school. I never went to prom either. I don't regret anything though. But if I have to suggest people about senior year, I'd say do whatever that makes you happy and NOT for any college or anyone else.
