Pursuit of Happiness

Maybe happiness isn’t really a pursuit
Maybe happiness isn’t something that you search for but
find
Maybe happiness is something that resides in all of us
Maybe it’s something only WE can find
Maybe happiness comes from within through the feeling of content
Maybe it’s simply not feeling sad
Maybe you can’t find it in anyone else
Maybe happiness is just being
happy
Maybe to be happy you look at the brighter things in life
Maybe if you do that all the challenges in life come easier
Maybe if challenges came easier you wouldn’t stress so much
Maybe if you didn’t stress so much you’d have more time to be
happy
Maybe this sounds easy but its not
Maybe life doesn’t want you to be happy
Maybe that’s the pursuit
Maybe the real challenge in life is getting through the bad times with a smile
Maybe friends are supposed to make you happy
Maybe friends are supposed to be another challenge
Maybe we’ll never find happiness
Maybe someday we can finally be
happy
Maybe the pursuit of happiness was our reason for life
Maybe that’s why babies are born crying
Maybe that’s our first challenge
Maybe we succeed when we see our mother and
smile
Maybe a mother’s touch could bring out happiness
Maybe a mother’s touch could only make things worse
Maybe everything on earth is made to make things hard
Maybe were not meant to ever be
happy
Maybe to be happy I can’t care
Maybe to be happy I have to care too much
Maybe to be happy you must love
Maybe love will only bring you pain
Maybe to be happy I have to see others happy
Maybe to be happy I have to be rich
Maybe to be happy I have to have a beautiful girl
Maybe to be happy I need a job I love
Maybe to be happy I need none of this
Maybe to be happy I just have to forget
Maybe to be happy I just need to be
happy
Maybe to be happy I have to be proud of myself
Maybe to be happy I just can’t look back
Maybe to be happy I just have to be confident about myself
Maybe to be happy I just need people who accept me for who I am
Maybe to be happy I need to know people love me
Maybe to be happy I need people to stop telling me I’m not
Maybe to be happy I have to ignore
Maybe to be happy I have to smile even when I don’t mean it
Maybe I’m finally
happy
Maybe I’m wrong and it will only feel worse later
Maybe it won’t matter
Maybe it won’t last very long
Maybe I’ll loose it as quick as I found it
Maybe that will only begin another pursuit to be
happy
THAT IS what the pursuit of happiness means to me
And for now I AM happy

Or at least I try,
smile
Maybe nobody will notice
