This is part of an informal ethnographic study I did for my Culture and Health Care class:
It is one of those rare warm Cleveland days in early April. The sun is out and it has to be at least 70 degrees. This sort of weather seems to bring people out of their winter hibernation. Any time the weather goes above 50, people seem to flock outside. I can't blame them, I do the same thing. As I sit in the plaza outside of Rhodes Tower, I take note of people. I must say, I feel a little weird watching people. Anyway, the weather seems to have also affected the way people are behaving. Everyone seems to be so upbeat compared to the drab winter blues that we've been experiencing for the past few months. Smiles and laughter are exchanged between parties, something that can rarely be seen underneath the layers of winter bundling. Even the people that are by themselves seem to be generally happy. Just reading a book outside in the sunshine can make anyone instantly become happier. I take note of what people seem to be reading. Psychology and books for various English classes seem to be the biggest trend. The sun dives behind clouds and you can see a consecutive frown amongst the people in the plaza. The sun will be back soon and so will those smiles.
