Why I Joined Progressive U: My Two Cents

College is coming fast. My parents have told me that money isn't a problem since we aren't hurting financially, but I realized I didn't want them to risk anything. That is when I decided I needed some scholarship money. I signed up at this site called FastWeb that showed many scholarships that I could apply for. I saw one, it was for this site called "Progressive U" and all I had to do was blog. Sounded easy enough.

So I came to this place and signed up. And I'll admit, I really originally wanted to just come here to post some blogs and win some money. However, after my blog "Books Anyone?" hit the main page and I started to receive comments, I thought this might be fun. Since then, my last couple blogs have been controversial- if you want to call it that- and I have enjoyed all the numerous responses I have been getting.

I believe that "Progressive U" has opened a door for me that has given me something new and exciting to do rather than just sitting on my butt all day IMing my friends. I used to be in newspaper and journalism but writing became dull for me. "Progressive U" changed all that and writing has become fun again.

I applaud everyone who has signed up to this site and have voiced their opinions. I applaud the ones that signed up and aren't competing for the scholarship even more. It is great to hear other opinions and what other people think about the environment, politics, and the media, and to get to try and back your thoughts. I want to thank everyone involved with "Progressive U" for creating this amazing opportunity for a scholarship, as well as a place where we all can voice our opinions.

Yeah I'm glad to be here too. And I'm glad you're glad to be here :)

See my blog and I'll love you forever! Or at least temporarily: www.progressiveu.org/blog/npsm18 or http://npsm18.wordpress.com/ for less progressive issues.

I've finally found something more addicting than Myspace.

That is just nonsense! Nothing more addicting than myspace, well, actually I don't even have a myspace, so I guess you are right :) You know what we are, we are just a bunch of teens who
have to say than people can talk, so we decide to type it.

I meant to say " more to say than people could take", I guess
school can only teach so much.

Actually, the scholarship is being dominated by someone who wrote a bot to copy and paste news articles from various news sources during the day. So the scholarship opportunity is gone (unless they do something about it), but for some reason I, like you, am still here. Weird.

I hear they screen the posts and blog entries before determining the winner b/c you're right: people copy&paste and make it harder for the rest of us.

Congrats on everyone who is here to actually voice opinions rather than cheat. There are other somewhat "easy" scholarships for you cheaters to NOT have to cheat on. Go do them.

Keep up the good work JaredMunson.

Yeah, I'm sure they don't count in the blogs that are like 'so, today i went to school, then i went home, then i watched tv..' and things like that, as well as pasted articles. I'll be very disappointed if they do. :/

Cool!
I'm glad you're here too--like everyone else.
I originally joined this site to hopefully win the scholarship. Then I signed out of the contest like two weeks ago because I got a different scholarship, and felt that there were so many awesome people here who deserve it more than I do.

I like your blogs too, Jared.
I'm going to University of Washington this fall; are you going?

Thanks for all the comments for this one. Wallflower, I have been accepted to Eastern Washington and University of Oregon but waiting on WSU. That college is my #1, so I'm waiting on that. Congrats on getting in and planning to go to UW!

I totally agree. :) I love that people can interact by expressing topics that are meaningful to them and offering different opinions, discussing things... :)
I love it. ^^

yeah, i like this blog. i've been a blogger for 4 hours or so & it seems like a ball, but let me clarify: i'm in it to win it! oh, i'm kidding. no i'm not. but seriously, they should just give it to me. pretty sure i've earned it fair & square already.
